I posted this in the CC cafe section but im posting it here as well. I dont really know where is more appropriate and i really would like some great feedback..anyway I am not a morning person to say the least. Things are always so hectic and crazy in the morning for me, and i always put off getting up until the last possible second. Maybe some of you who have it all together in the mornings can help me out. What are your daily morning routines and what are your means for actually getting up and staying awake once out of bed?

Thanks soo much, w/ break ending shortly, i want to start off the new semester on the right foot.

Ah, this is a good topic. I find getting up the hardest part of the day. You usually didn't have enough sleep, the bed is so inviting, there's no stresses in your bed, it's warm, etc etc.

The trick is to get out of bed, just hop out of it and walk to the bathroom. Once you start brushing your teeth, or turn on the t.v, you'll wake up a bit more. Just don't go back on the bed.

As for my routine, I set my alarm clock for 7:00, sleep until 7:10(I should probably stop this), then I get up, put on clothes, turn on the t.v for background noise, brush my teeth, eat and watch said t.v and then I leave. It takes me only 20 minutes to do all of this.

You should get everything ready for school the night before. Set out your clothes, make sure your bookbag and everything is in order. It's really stressful to have to scramble around the house in the morning looking for your keys.

Agh, I'm the worst at waking up. The bus I take leaves at 7:25, and I have to walk about 7 minutes to the stop. I usually wake up at 7, lie in bed until 7:10, come down stairs and eat breakfast for about two minutes, brush my teeth, and leave at 7:15 or as close as I can get to 7:15. I need to wake up earlier BADLY. But I do find it helps to put out my clothes for the next day and get my books together the night before.

I usually set my alarm for 6:15, but I'm lucky if I get out of bed by 6:45. But it works since I need to be at school by 7:15-7:20 everyday for club meetings and it takes me 10 minutes to get there. It's been working pretty well but this year my sister has created some chaos. Which is odd, she wakes up an hour earlier to get ready.

What I recommend is putting the alarm clock on the other side of the room and not close to your bed. That way, even if you're having trouble getting out of bed, the alarm will nag you every nine minutes or so. Once you're out of bed, head directly to the bathroom and just begin brushing your teeth or showering. Both activities really help to perk you up in the morning.

6:00 - wake up
6:05-6:20- get dressed, wash face, eyeliner, hair
6:20-6:40- breakfast
6:40-6:50-brush teeth, gather school stuff
6:50 --drive to school

I wake up at 7:15.
Change.
Make up/hair/brush teeth/wash face. (Now it's 7:30)
Grab a banana or if I'm lucky mommy will make me a smoothie.
I HAVE to leave by 7:35 to go to school in time.
Arrive at 7:52 and RUN.

My biggest suggestion, especially if you're a girl.
PICK OUT YOUR CLOTHES THE NIGHT BEFORE.
It takes me FOREVER, especially if I'm having an ugly/fat day.

-Wake up at 6:00 (though I usually end up sleeping till 6:30 haha)
-Take a shower
-Get backpack ready
-Eat breakfast (by now it is usually 7:15)
-Leave house by 7:20
-Get to bus stop at 7:45
-Get on bus at 7:55
-Get to school at 8:20
-Classes start at 8:30

My biggest suggestion, especially if you're a girl.
PICK OUT YOUR CLOTHES THE NIGHT BEFORE.

I should really do this. It takes so much longer than it should, especially because (a) the light in my room is at a weird angle in the morning (so I look hideous in the mirror) and (b) it's hard to feel pretty when you're sleep-deprived and short on time.

Okay . . after this many years, I think I have my routine down, lol.

6:00 - First alarm goes off.
6:10 - Second alarm goes off.
6:15 - Mom comes in & turns on my tv to wake me up.
6:20 - Last alarm goes off.
*Yes, I have 3 alarms (4 if you count my mom). I have a bad habit of turning the alarm OFF instead of just pressing the snooze button.
6:21 - Run to the bathroom before my mom comes back to yell at me. Brush teeth, shower, etc.
6:45 - Get dressed (We have uniforms so I don't have to worry about that)
6:47 - Breakfast
6:55 - Makeup/Hair
7:15 - Run back to bathroom for mouthwash & to wash my hands
7:20 - Run to the kitchen, grab some gum, & realize I can't find my keys.
7:25 - Keys have been found somewhere under the huge pile of papers on my desk.
7:27 - I'm on my way!

By the way, school starts at 7:30. They give us until 7:40 to get there. Without traffic it would take me 10 minutes to get there. But traffic is horrible every day, so it takes me around 20 minutes. If we get there even a minute past 7:30 more than three times, we get detention. I've gotten detention once lol

Ha. You think getting up at 6 is crazy?? I consider sleeping til 6 SLEEPING IN!!! Try 4:30. We swimmers are ridiculous! Practice is at 5 (M-Th).

Advice:: (whether you're waking up at 4:30 or 6)
--turn on the light...it makes it harder to go back to sleep
--have everything sitting out...clothes, homework, other things
--keep a clock in your bathroom (girls)

That's all I have...I guess you just have to get over the getting out of bed part...always hardest.

6:10- alarm goes off
6:20- my mom wakes me up and leaves for work
6:45- my little sisters or my brother wake me up
6:50- finally leave bed to brush my teeth and take a shower
7:10- get dressed
7:30- pack suff up and watch TV
7:40- leave with my brother for school

6:42 or 6:53: Alarm (alternates on whether my hair needs to be straightened or not that morning)
6:55: I force my little brother to go turn off the alarm, so he leaves our room and I can shower
7:06: out of shower
7:16: dressed
7:21: done with hair
7:30: out the door
7:35: actually out the door
