My daughter received a generic welcome letter from ODI too. I’m not sure what to make of it. But she also received an unsolicited offer of $500 to help offset the travel cost if we visit campus. We’re out of state. She also got word that she was accepted to the honors college. But so far, no word on the scholarship.
Question about housing…my DD was accepted to MMC scholars, who live in Morrill Tower. From what I’ve read, it’s better to be in a double rather than a quad. So, how does she avoid the quad? Or is it random and everybody has equal chance of being in a quad?
Did anyone receive a Morrill email last Friday? It seems like most of the posts have been from OOS. Anyone in state received anything recently? I applied in November and haven’t heard anything yet. The wait is killing me. Wondering if they will send out any more.
I found this in a post on FB. (It is a communication from OSU to a HS guidance office.) It seems everyone will hear about MSP by end of March.
“Some dates of note:
Merit scholarship awards for early action applicants will be posted by the end of February.
Students who applied for the Honors Program will have a decision by the end of February.
By the end of March, admitted students will be notified via email of a complete financial aid package and final offers for the Morrill Scholarship Program.
All final Scholars Program decisions will be out by the beginning of April.”
My son is waiting too. He was awarded Maximus scholarship on 12/10…only 3K per year, I am not sure if he is still eligible for Morrill scholarship or not. it looks like for in-state. they sent two batches for Morril. on 12/6 and 12/20.
@Dublin68 Receiving Maximus does not take your child out of the pool for Morrill Scholarships.
Thank you @jjulesjenks. also my son got accepted to the Honor program too.
did anyone hear anything from morrill yesterday
So my daughter got email on Friday afternoon (1/24) that she has received Morrill Prominence Scholarship (Full tuition) and that she is being considered for Morrill Distinction (full cost of attendance) and has to come for interview.
By the way we are OOS and daughter has received OSU acceptance in mid Dec and so this past Friday was first time she got any info on any aid (scholarship, grants, etc)
Congratulations to your daughter @Shebjo ! When is the Morrill Distinction weekend?
Does anyone know if it’s too late to get the scholarship or to receive distinction? I’m an in-State student who was admitted to OSU in November and I haven’t heard anything
@chunkysweater It is not too late to receive the scholarship. They will continue to award the scholarship in the next 4 to 6 weeks. I was also admitted during the first wave in November. Having said that, I can honestly say that as excited as I was to being accepted to OSU which has always been very high on my list of schools, it will probably end up as not being a viable financial option.
I’m sorry to hear that the cost is holding you back. Did you receive the scholarship?
I have not received the scholarship. Patiently waiting just like you. It is a process and sometimes it takes a lot of luck in order to get these amazing opportunities.

I applied to OSU late October. Received my acceptance to Ohio State engineering in mid-December. Then on 1/24/20 I received on my personal email that I got the Morrill Prominence scholarship. I wasn’t invited to interview for distinction however, as far as I know. I hope this helps! Good luck!!
Congrat @nicholasallen. do you mind to share your stat. my son got an acceptance on the first wave on Nov 15, also got accepted to honor and received Maximus. still waiting on Morill but we are losing hope and I want to see if anyone got in-state Morrill since 12/20
@Dublin68 Acceptance into The Morrill Scholars Program really doesn’t have anything to do with an applicant’s stats other than that is what gets a student accepted into OSU. To be a Morrill Scholar, one needs to illustrate how they move forward the mission of diversity and inclusion.
@Dublin68 I agree with what @jjulesjenks said. Stats like test scores and gpa aren’t really are large consideration. Mainly they are looking for diversity and inclusion focused leadership. They also heavily consider the quality of the essay and how your personal story would contribute to the diversity of OSU. That’s why I believe stats aren’t really a concern it’s more about your story and background. I’d love to answer any questions about my essay and or story if that would help! I’d also like to point out that I’m an out of state applicant.
