current distinction scholar here, and i’ll make this brief. congrats to those who’ve made it to the interview point. i wish you all the best of luck! and no housing is offered for the interviews unfortunately. interviews don’t typically go for too long…i think mine was 30…maybe 45 mins? you do most of the talking so the length is up to you.
and yes it is possible to still get excellence/prominence after this point. if a student who’s already been awarded the scholarship declines and decides to go to another school their scholarship will go to someone else.
myself and a handful of other distinction scholars will be at some upcoming programing for the scholarship including the interview. needless to say we understand your feelings and nervousness, but stay positive and be confident in yourself. see you guys then~
@tsyni101, this is my mom’s username, but we both use it to follow threads on CC. We’ve been reading your posts even before this message. Yes, the interview is very intimidating. Thank you for the moral support! We all need it. My parents and I will be there on he 7th and hope to finally meet you and he other Distinction scholars.
@Jalaquan @OneOf5 Congrats and good luck on your interview. Were any of you able to schedule the time of your interview yet? I confirmed that I was able to attend however, I haven’t heard anything ever since.
@tsyni101 are you sure they’re done giving out new scholarships because I thought they were giving out more excellence/prominence scholarships until February 20th
idk when the official date that they stop giving out scholarships is. im just saying that they’ll continue to give out scholarships as long as they have them. if one person doesn’t want it, it’ll go to someone else.
@meganporter no lol. if you get offered the distinction it’s because we (by that i mean the msp) wants you bad enough to give you a full ride to college. that being said if you choose to go elsewhere, it’s no big deal to us bc there is a long line of people who are just as eager to get the scholarship if you choose not to accept it.
@tsyni101 , that’s exactly what I thought as I had submitted my enrollment deposit. It’s just a concern my dad then raised. Thank you for your response though, I appreciate it!
