Morrill Scholars Program Class of 2020

I’m surprised I haven’t seen this yet, but does anyone know when they start sending emails?

I applied too :slight_smile: I heard it’s usually late Jan/Feb.

Last year’s link below. Not sure if they’re changing how they’re doing things this year or if it’ll be the same.

So seems like some folks started hearing about morill decisions in Dec itself, based on the link posted by jumbletumbles for 2015

Don’t think I’ll get this scholarship… put a lot of effort into this essay but I submitted on 11/1 and my application is still in Evaluation which means Morrill hasn’t even gotten it yet (correct me if I’m wrong) so I’m thinking my chances are slim.

@gigglebot3 According to late years thread they have released results up to spring. There’s still plenty of time to get an OSU acceptance before then. :slight_smile:

@gigglebot3
I agree with @Chopinspiano. They aren’t even close to being done with even just admissions decisions yet.
This year’s acceptance notifications have been coming out slower than last year & they haven’t accepted as many students as they had this time last year yet either.
I think ODI is doing things differently this year too. This time last year, ODI website had a published ‘by’ date for their decisions and a lot more info available for applicants. This year there’s practically no info. Something is definitely different. So I wouldn’t worry about it yet :wink:

@gigglebot3 I applied to Morrill as well and still haven’t heard back regarding my admission decision. I’m starting to get a little worried. I applied 10/29. I’m hoping the late notification won’t decrease the chances of receiving this scholarship.

I just emailed them. It is confirmed that they will send notifications of Morrills until March though she did not tell me when they would start. :confused:

Thanks for the help @Chopinspiano and @jumbletumbles ! Glad someone else is in the same boat :slight_smile: @miller8912451

FWIW, my son hasn’t received an admissions decision yet either & he’s in the 75th-100th percentile range for all their academic stats. He submitted on 10/31 & applied for both Honors & Morrill.

I just got an email. I’ve been selected for Prominence!

@Chopinspiano Yay! Congrats!!! That’s huge!

@jumbletumbles Thanks! I’m not sure if I moved onto the Distinction round. I think the email would have said so.

@Chopinspiano - can you check your profile and confirm if anything is showing there as well in regards to morill?

At this point, WE’D be happy with just an acceptance! Lol

@dreamed No. There is just the email. @jumbletumbles I know! My friend is in the same boat. I’m sure your son will get in with those high stats :wink:

Us too! It is getting nerve wracking. I had in my mind that DS would hear earlier. He applied on or about 10/28.

@chopinspiano do you mind sharing what the email said and what your Morrill essay was about? If not, no worries.

@Gabzachloe32 “On behalf of the vice provost for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and its ODI Scholars Program, I am pleased to announce that you have been selected to receive The Ohio State University’s acclaimed Morrill Scholarship Program Prominence Scholarship. Congratulations! The university is strongly dedicated to creating a diverse campus that is inclusive of all community members, and this scholarship recognizes your commitment to excellence and diversity initiatives.”

My essay was about the emerging fight on inequality. I related the BlackLivesMatter movement to the Civil Rights Movement and stated how some of these leaders are mimicking Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, and Stokely Carmichael. Then I mentioned how I fit in with that due to my publications on race and how it could potentially make me a leader in this new movement.
