I am a girl…hence the username. I’m not sure if we can room together. Lol. Unless you’re not of the XY variety. My bestfriends are going to OSU too but I’m debating whether to room with them or not. I want to meet new people…you know?

Yeah, I got waitlisted to some schools too and I would suggest rooming with new people haha

My D just got awarded the Prominence award today! She received a letter dated April 1 stating she was not selected for the MSP award. Well, April Fools, cuz today she got an email notifying her that her financial aid status changed. When she checked, they had taken off the National Buckeye and Provost and awarded the Prominence! I was sure it was a mistake, but after calling Student Services, Financial Aid and Undergraduate Admissions, they all had one word to say…“Congratulations!”

So who’s going and not going?

Not going, i’m going to the University of Miami in Coral Gables. Florida here I come! As an Ohio resident, it was somewhat disappointing that OSU gave me minimal financial aid but I got full tuition at the []_[]

So I want to take my first semester of sophomore year off (I know this is a little early to be thinking about it but I want to be an Au Pair which takes a lot of prep work). I read somewhere that as long as you are enrolled for at least one quarter of the academic year that you can keep the prominence scholarship. Is that true? Also, if I do take the semester off do I lose that semester of the scholarship or can it roll over into the first semester of my 5th year?

Hi! I applied to Morrill Scholars this year. I hope I’m not being to forward but i was wondering what your GPA/ grade point average, SAT’s, APs, and extracurriculars(especially the diversity based ones) were like just so I can get a gauge of where I stand.

Mine are about as follows:
highest SAT (2140) superscore (2170)___
grade point average __98.5 (weighted GPA of 4.0 or higher (our school doesn’t use GPA))
8 AP’s (also I took 2 semesters of calculus at Georgia Tech)
I play varsity tennis, piano for 8 years, am president of Math National Honors society, founded a religious youth group focused on community service, volunteer as a teacher’s assistant at a local elementary school, have participated in a mission trip to costa rica, have volunteered about 350 hours throughout high school, etc.

Let me know what you think and thanks!

If someone who got the Prominence or Distinction could respond, that’d be great! Also, I’m an Indian from ATL, GA. Does that make me racially diverse?

I got Excellence (full tuition) with better test scores, worse GPA and EC’s.

I think you’ll get at least Excellence.

I got the Prominence scholarship! Your SAT scores look great and your extracurriculars look good. However, much of getting the scholarship is based on your essay when you did the application. About 20% of the people that apply get some form of the scholarship (about 400). If you do not receive the prominence scholarship the university also gives out other scholarships and based on your SAT scores you are likely to get $15,000 to $18,000 a year. I’m a freshman at OSU and I’m from NC and white so anyone can get the prominence scholarship. If you have any other questions then you can email me at jingle.5@OSU.edu.
