Mosaic 2016

@copengie4 I have a friend who is a Junior at Vandy and he says he is an outcast. Apparently a lot of the students care mostly for Greek life that anything. And I feel like the low Percentage of blacks is a bit off putting. He told me that I should absolutely visit myself to see if I fit in. But again, money is always an issue. $300 a flight is not what I had in mind for a college visit.

So i assume if we are a minority and didnt get the invite by now we are most likely rejected. sad.

my cousin went to vandy. He said it is very greek heavy and even if you try to incorporate yourself into that lifestyle its difficult for minorities. The greek system and the campus environment is very exclusionary. Those who are lucky enough to get into the predominantly white social circles have a lot of money.

@ronburg11 Most people didn’t get invites, so it really doesn’t necessarily mean you didn’t get in.

And though your cousin’s experience is of course valid, keep in mind it’s different for everyone! Here’s an article I found that you might find interesting: http://thetab.com/us/vanderbilt/2016/02/19/black-girl-white-sorority-1260

@collegebobollege Good article. However that is a female perspective. As valid as it may be I personally don’t think it compares to what a male minority faces.

I also got accepted through MOSAIC
Anyone planning on going to Vandy? If so or if you visited the campus plz PM me because I would love to hear why or how the visit was.
