MOSAIC Weekend

I got an acceptance letter today along w/ an invitation to the MOSAIC multicultural weekend. How many of you are going? I really want to but my family's unclear on whether the trip is reimbursed or not. It said "There is no cost to participate in MOSAIC." but does that include the travel expenses too?

i'm going! and it's a little unclear for me too.

My understanding is that the max amount to be reimbursed is $100. And the enclosed request form must be completed and received by Vandy by 03/02.

Do they only give reimbursement to families with financial need?

did you apply RD or early decision?

i applied RD. i was surprised to hear back so soon :)

yea, i got accepted today too
it was definately a pleasant surprise for me when i opened the packet
i think im going to go just because it takes place during my spring break and the stuff they have planned for us looks like it will be fun
it seems like they will reimburse us up to $100 for traveling

I got the letter yesterday ( to my suprise), but it seemed to me that the college would only reimburse you up to 100$ if your family was in need

I was just accepted to this today, and I'm a little uncertain as to what this consists of...is it all based on ethnicity, and do parents have to come?

Unless things have changed, parents do not have to come with you

I encourage everybody who was invited to MOSAIC to attend. It is a less crowded version of any other preview weekend that you will find for other accepted students. Further, it gives you a chance to meet current and admitted minority or minority-ish students. We get so many people on this board worried that Vanderbilt is too white-bread; MOSAIC gives you the opportunity to see that while Vanderbilt may not be 50% minority, it does have a strong cultural, social, and academic minority presence there.

I was just wondering if being invited to MOSAIC weekend and not the honors scholars weekend meant that you were not a likely candidate for the major scholarships such as the chancellor's scholarship.

have invitations for honors scholars weekend already been sent out? my worry for attending the MOSAIC weekend is that my parents have no where to go. spending four days in a big city can be a little expensive...

does anyone know about the chancellors scholarship yet?

According to the application packet, admission, financial aid, and Chancellor’s Scholar decisions are mailed April 1st.

does the fact that we were invited to MOSAIC and not the honors weekend pretty much signify we wont be getting the chancellor's scholarship?

hey guys, just got in to vandy with an invite to the Mosiac program also-siked!
never thought i would hear so early.
it seems like it should be pretty fun-how many of you guys are going and are all of you guys from different backrounds (i am half indian).
look forward to seeing you guys there.

I really don't know as I wasnt in the running for any type of merit scholarship (I was just happy to get in).

Im going! im half colombian and half ecuadorian.

I got accepted and got invited to MOSAIC too! I don't know if I'm going to be able to attend though...even a $100 reimbursement isn't much. I'm flying to 2 other schools within the next month or so to interview for big scholarships and I don't think that my parents will be willing to pay for another trip. Is there any negative affect if you are unable to attend?

Because I did not get this...does this mean I won't get in?
