Ouch, I’m 27 and will be going back to school(not CC) in the fall. I guess I better be careful not to ask too many questions or share life experiences or take too many notes.

Also I’ve been considering re-taking Calc 1, even though I already have credit for it, because in the 9 years since I last took a Calculus class - I’ve probably forgotten 90% of the material. Not a strong start for an actuarial science major, but it’s not that I don’t have strong math abilities, it’s that I’m out of practice/forgot formulas, etc…

Oh, I have to review my answer… The most annoying type is the students with “disabilities” who use the “disability” as an excuse to their lack of effort and bad grades!

After reading this entire thread, i was pleased in seeing how others were just as annoyed as i am about the people in ccs. I also find it important to have these people at ccs. For hard working students like us, this is motivation. Motivation for us to get out of this hell hole vacuum that cc’s are. See the “PGA” the pregnant women, and the unmotivated class failer, we see what we dont want to become. We need these failers, as motivation.

I’ll agree that it doesn’t hurt. Though, I’ll always remember the high achieving, hard working, short on resources people (no just kids!) who went at night and before work in the morning. Those people continue to inspire me.

Personally, I think the most annoying community college student is the lab partner who doesn’t do any work. If it was a cute girl I wouldn’t mind, but that never seems to be the case.

-the older person who brings the tape recorder and/or goes through 5 notebooks; has to write down every word the professor says

I don’ think my high GPA will be annoyed by my measures of preparation. Keep in mind, Everyone has differently learning styles.

You know who is the most annoying kind of CC student? The Kind who thinks they are too good to attend a CC. Because, their parents come from money and could gladly afford for them to attend a private or state college. Sorry to burst your bubble, but ummm… You are in a CC with the rest us. Get Over Yourself.

I just started back to school after 23 years, so I guess I’m an “old-timer”. The most annoying thing in CC are the rude, disruptive kids who chatter constantly during the class so you can’t hear a word the teacher is saying, & act like children in the halls. Really, kids, grow the heck up already, this isn’t grade school.

“The Kind who thinks they are too good to attend a CC. Because, their parents come from money and could gladly afford for them to attend a private or state college. Sorry to burst your bubble, but ummm… You are in a CC with the rest us.”

hahahahahahahahaha! I agree completely LanaMPerez85.

The people that still think they’re in high school. And do the following:
-Pay more attention to the other students in the class than the professor.
-Wear lettermen jackets
-Don’t do the outside work/studying and then complain that its the teachers fault. EVERY SEMESTER!

Other than that I like community college. Less-expensive classes, and good professors who are there to teach and not for research. I actually learn a lot from the older students, because they know more about life and adulthood than we do. You guys would too if you weren’t so judgmental and just focused on bettering yourselves and learning in your classes. This isn’t high school anymore.

P.S. I’m 18, so I would still be considered a younger student.

For those of you annoyed by the older students, perhaps you should stop and remember that these are the students who by their years and perhaps decades of paying taxes have made it possible for you to attend community college on the cheap. In California for example, the tuition that is paid by a student covers only 1/10 of the actual cost of attendance, the other 90% has been footed by the tax payer. Time to appreciate EVERY “old person” student on campus, because it is their tax dollars at work!

Someday you may be that old person in the classroom.

The one that doesn’t giva (u know what) about school, is in 2nd semester of engineering, has straight c’s and still he gets a full ride because of some who know what
