Well I'm sure I've made sum kinda mistake but when I checked the schedule of classes on tritonlink it showed an alarming number of classes (which most of us will be taking) were already filled,on the verge of being filled and even a few with waitlists !! :o So can we actually enroll in classes now or do we have to wait for august(when I thought we were supposed to enroll). Can anyone throw some light on the matter?

They told me that those spaces only open for current student and most of the seats are saved for incoming freshmen. Don't panic by the enrollment date they will open up more spaces. I believed they told me about 120+.

But let's just say we don't exactly get the pick of the crop.

dam*** i should have signed up for 1st session.... but I was only able to get session 4

you dont sign up for classes at orientation...you only plan out your schedule

You sign up in August. I don't think there's a correlation between orientation date and class registration date.

I think the only correlation you'll see for class registration time is how many AP credits you have.

The first registration is based on a lottery; subsequent quarters, however, are based on units (AP + CC/JC + UC). UCSD also opens up more spots in common freshman classes when registration begins.

:)

I'm not sure what major you're in, but you also get priority for some classes. I'm engineering, so I get priority for all engineering classes. Also, the counselor told me that I was guaranteed spots in Chem 6A, and Math20C. She told me that the spots might be either really early in the morning, or late at night, but I'll get the classes. Talk to your counselor, maybe something like that applies to you too.

when do we start registration and enrollment ? what is the date for that when we actually go on the site and pick classes?

Finding open seats isn't the problem; getting an 8 AM or 4 PM lecture is what really sucks.

so early orientation really doesn't matter too much in terms of registration/enrollment right?

nope, i called them about this and they said orientation date has no correlation with getting the classes you want.

No....September orientation gets first pick...
