^ washington and lee is:
a) not an Ivy - nor does it want to be one
b) much more conservative than dartmouth and princeton

I think that washington and lee was not part of the following statement

ronald reagan had a good economic policy

"Voodoo Economics" - George H.W. Bush, on Reagan's economic platform in the 1980 GOP Primaries.

Texas A&M is VERY conservative. BYU also has a conservative reputation.

"Nope.
Apparently the Republican club at Berkeley is one of the fastest growing clubs on campus."

Yeah, because everyone else at Berkeley is liberal so they don't need a Democrat club.

"^ washington and lee is:

ya.. sorry, I didnt mean to include wash&lee into my comment about ivies. I didnt make that very clear.

"Berkeley is really conservative."

sarcasm, right?

Georgetown is pretty conservative (along with Emory?)

Of the Ivies, Princeton.

I really am glad I saw this. I really DON'T want a conservative school.

Which colleges should I avoid to avoid socially conservative people?
[/quote]
Haha, I thought liberals were supposed to be open-minded and tolerant of others? Seriously though, college is about learning. Why would you want to attend a college where everybody thinks just like you? Hopefully you're comfortable enough with your beliefs you can go to a conservative school. It would be a great experience.

Texas A&M is pretty covservatice politically, but it is one of the friendliest campuses in the United States. The students are polite and very welcoming, and complete strangers will give you a big ole' Texas "Howdy!" So, when it comes to looking for the right college, don't automatically exclude a school for it's reputation. By doing so, you're doing yourself a great injustice.

Being with conservatives is annoying and I would hate to hear all the time about how the republican party is doing such a great time when in reality they are just messing up the country and by 2008 it will be ruins.

brigham young for sure!

stay away from the bible belt, lol

You guys are missing the most crazy Uber-Fundie University in the entire country: Liberty U! Where the founder thinks feminists are from Satan, and "attending dances, viewing R-rated movies, drinking, and participating in unauthorized petitions" aren't allowed! x_x

I have friends that are conservative, but they respect other people's opinions. You'd have to be radically conservative to attend that nuthouse.

Ive noticed that half the responses are sarcastic/trying to be funny. Lovely.

"Georgetown is pretty conservative"

Georgetown may be a Catholic university, but I wouldn't classify it as conservative at all. It's run by the Jesuits, by far the most liberal religious order of priests in the Church. Don't let the Roman collars fool you -- many of those cats make Noam Chomsky look like Rush Limbaugh.

Air Force Academy and the other military academies are very conservative.

I second that Georgetown is not conservative..obv. you know nothingof the school except for it's Catholic and so you make a generalization. And agreed..all the military academies are definitely conservative.

Catholics today in America make up the majority of the religious left, along with Jews. So go figure.

Being with conservatives is annoying and I would hate to hear all the time about how the republican party is doing such a great time when in reality they are just messing up the country and by 2008 it will be ruins.

Just a note: the conservatives and republican labels are not always interchangeable.

Bob Jones University's webpage is HILARIOUS. Just look at the rules/dress code. No Movies? No Country Music? Women have to wear skirts...***??
