Most controversial books

Heather has Two Mommies

First of all, I wonder how many of you who are bashing Conrad have ever really read and studied his work. Most people simply dislike the book because it requires more then half your moments attention to understand.

Secondly, while Achebe is of course a very good writer and I find most of his lectures and articles to be one-demensional. Yes, Europe was very racist. We understand. But authors such as Kippling have written text along the same lines and recieved no bashing. Achebe seems to have some personal problem with Heart of Darkness and has decided that it applies to everyone.

The Koran has been causing violence throughout the world since it was written, and I have a feeling we haven't seen half of the violence it will cause.

Same with the bible right?

indeed, religious books in general seem to cause violence

What about the book made by the French guy that claims a missile hit the Pentagon on 9/11 instead of a 757? That hogwash was pretty controversial...

The Communist Manifesto is responsible for more misery, violence, and death than every religious book combined in the 20th century.

Cuse, which book are you referring to?

This one?

<a href="http://www.amazon.com/9-11-Synthetic-Terror-Third/dp/0930852370/sr=1-3/qid=1166980430/ref=sr_1_3/002-5970522-5421614?ie=UTF8&s=books%5B/url%5D">http://www.amazon.com/9-11-Synthetic-Terror-Third/dp/0930852370/sr=1-3/qid=1166980430/ref=sr_1_3/002-5970522-5421614?ie=UTF8&s=books</a></p>

"911 Synthetic Terror Made in the USA is voluminous, scholarly and fascinating. It may well go down in history as the document of record exposing the lies told by officials about the events 911.

Page after page is completely filled with verifiable facts that refute the official story that 19 hijackers with box cutters led by Bin Laden in a cave hijacked jets and flew them into THREE not TWO buildings at the WTC complex in NYC and into the Pentagon. There is so much evidence refuting the official lie published by the 911 Commission (Hereafter known as the "Omission Commission"), that every page of the 512 page book contains some startling evidence and expert analysis as well.

Webster Tarpley is the strongest voice of reason on 911truth. Anyone who reads this book from cover to cover and still believes the official myth may want to seek professional help for their cognitive dissonance problem."

or this one?

could it be this one?

<a href="http://www.amazon.com/New-Pearl-Harbor-Disturbing-Administration/dp/1566565529/sr=1-2/qid=1166982169/ref=pd_bbs_2/002-5970522-5421614?ie=UTF8&s=books%5B/url%5D">http://www.amazon.com/New-Pearl-Harbor-Disturbing-Administration/dp/1566565529/sr=1-2/qid=1166982169/ref=pd_bbs_2/002-5970522-5421614?ie=UTF8&s=books</a></p>

Hmmm...and there are LOTS more...

Have you actually READ any of them?

If you have not READ them, how do you know they are HOGWASH?

Sometimes it is the controversial books/ideas that precipitate positive changes in the world. Not all controversial ideas are worthy, but most worthy ideas start out controversial.

Conrad is great, Heart of Darkness is one of my favorite books. Try reading it outloud if you are finding it difficult. It sounds great while spoken, and you can't rush through it if you want to enjoy it.

"The Communist Manifesto is responsible for more misery, violence, and death than every religious book combined in the 20th century."

Hey, don't hate!

"The Koran has been causing violence throughout the world since it was written, and I have a feeling we haven't seen half of the violence it will cause."

Please perpetuate some more xenophobic garbage, please!

hehe i was beat too it. the da vinci code. and of course the bible.

why fahrenheit 451?

leal,

I haven't bothered to waste my time reading anything supported by 9/11 'truth' because all of their theories are bull and it would be a complete waste of time.

But yes, all of the books you posted links to are controversial.

Anyways, I'm not going to answer why the 9/11 conspiracy theories are hogwash because that isn't what this thread is about.
