Most Depressing Movies.

i second Gladiator...Braveheart...

i agree with million dollar baby and a walk to remember. basically any movie were someone gets sick and dies is sad. i didn't think spanglish was depressing at all, it was a great movie :)

i saw "spanglish" a couple days ago and i must say, it's not the best movie to see at midnight with your mom if you are a girl...and hispanic. of course i mean this in a good way, it was just that my mom totally brokedown b/c of the ending and since i'm going of to college and i guess it a hispanic thing. i so didnt cry though...or did i? :) it was a great movie though. i thought it was funny how none of the movie had subtitles but at certain parts there were jokes in spanish that you wouldn't have gotten if you didn't understand spanish, like when flor's cousin is translating the first conversation at the house. the cousin calls the the wife crazy and other stuff. anyway, it was a great movie, not depressing at all.

Spanglish is a great movie. Alas, it is also very underrated.

extremely underrated. i thought it was sooo good, but from what i heard before the movie, i would've thought it was just an ok comedy with a cute ending. its probably b/c none of the people who told me about were hispanic and didn't really get that whole deal. i want to see it again. damn you movies-on-demand that only lets me watch it for a day.

crash was sad but in a different kind of way than most of these movies?
y tu mama tambien sad? i love that movie and watch it all the time, but sad? meh.
the motorcycle diaries was sad just because the whole time you know that che dies and you try to connect the two different ernesto guevaras in your mind. sad.
ali is very sad for me, but mostly because its just about a completely different time thats gone forever. it wasnt a great time, but its gone, and thats the part that makes me sad, lol. i duno old pictures and movies about past times always do that to me. they just make me bummed.

y tu mama tambien was sad b/c of the little stories about the people they met and what happened to those people. like the family on the beach. and the ending was pretty sad, how she died and they never saw each other again...

ali was annoying. will smith overdid the role way to much. his accent bugged the hell out of me.

i want to see crash and motorcyle diaries though..

he was pretty much muhammad ali to a t, who did, to be fair, annoy a lot of people.

best thing about motorcycle diaries is the soundtrack (seriously, it's great)

Not a very well-known film, but its really good-The Dreamlife of Angels, its so sad

Homeless to Harvard

Love Story. I think that this movie was what A Walk to Remember was based on, because the plot is almost identical, except the characters are in Harvard, not high school

I think A Walk to Remember (the movie) was based on the book... because it was.

haha. yeah it was a book. i still didnt like the movie, it was to cheesy and goody two shoes for my taste. never read the book.

"The Dukes of Hazzard" was the most depressing movie I've ever seen, because of what its making $30 million dollars the first weekend said about the state of American pop culture.

Well then the book was based on Love Story, because there's no way those two movies have no connection.

popular dude falls in love with nerd. nerd dies of leukemia. not that complicated of a plot. it might just be coincidence that "love story" and "a walk to remember" are similar. btw sorry for the oversimplification of the plot. i hope its not a true story. then i'll feel bad...

Hey I've got a new one. Dancer in the Dark. It is really sad. and it's a musical. Go Lars von Trier to making a musical with Bjork singing and then having it depressing as all hell. He is a daring genius. What director would have the balls to do that?

Anyways if you do like challenging films that are really original and different, check it out. It is worth being seen whether it is liked or not.

My most depressing films have already been mentioned:
- Grave of the Fireflies
- Life is Beautiful
- The Bicycle Thief
- Dancer in the Dark

Evita...it was on tv yesterday. At the end when she dies and and the light goes out....omg. I was bawling.

House of Sand and Fog was the saddest movie I have seen in my life.

21 Grams is the most depressing movie I've ever seen. Even moreso than Schindler's List, which is another very depressing movie. Mystic River is pretty gloomy too. After I see those movies I'm really gloomy and brooding a lot for a few days. Really weird. Love them though.
