Now that they're either complete or getting close, would anyone like to comment on which applications were the most challenging either in terms of essay difficulty or sheer volume? This is an excellent opportunity to vent! ;-)

Exeter, ehh, not that many hard stuff.

Groton, there was like a thousand essays to write, just killin me

Milton. Oh Lord…

CHOATE! It had the hardest short essays/short answers of all. then I’d say…SPS then exeter even though it wasn’t that hard at all and etc…

MILTON??? are you kidding me???

Milton was, actually my best essays, other than Exeter.
Yeah, you have to really impress the people there

Hotchkiss. I’m doing its 280-acre farmland essay right now. Gotta procrastinate because I can’t think of any ideas.

For the schools I applied to:

Deerfield: very broad topic, but once I found a way to tie things in together, it was pretty good!
SPS: a ton to write, but really not a huge hassle, finished them all in one sitting
Andover: really odd topics, but when I found an awesome subject, I got a pretty good essay

Groton’s short answer were like writing haiku. Tough questions with few characters allotted. The essays were easier IMO.

Done with the Hotchkiss essay about farmland. Feeling smart.:D

Lawrenceville’s Supplemental part where you have to ask yourself a question and then answer it revealing something about yourself…

that was kinda odd and random, although it wasn’t exactly difficult.

Anyone agree or disagree?

Agh, I haven’t answered that yet. Did you guys go the reveal-something-else-about-yourself boring route, where you ask yourself something like what your passions are, or did you go the creative way? I seriously just want to ask Why is the sky blue and answer Check wikipedia xDD

I think my least favorite are Andover’s though. SO SPECIFIC. ALSO my town is like the most boring place on Earth ;_;

That sounds like a great way to recycle an essay from another school.

I think Andover’s essays choices where my favorite, but i also like Hotchkiss and St. Paul’s promts.
I think Exeter’s application was the hardest because they want so much stuff and because i didn’t like their essay questions as much.

Actually, neato, I thought the same exact thing last year and did that, haha. Although the topic I chose was kinda weird (the favorite word essay from Exeter) :B

Hope, where’d you get that idea? Exeter only wanted two essays and an optional parent statement. I think it’s the smallest app and liked it best, actually.

Btw, what’d you choose for the Andover essays? Haha, cuz I has nooo idea.

The middlesex application was so easy. They were basically all just little short answers that can be written in a couple sentences. They were like interview questions (favorite subjects, extracurricular, favorite books, awards).

One of the easiest applications.

I thought SPS gave room to show yourself in the most well-rounded way. :D

Hotchkiss the farm question needed a lot of thinking…But I finished their application in one day and sent it in.

Lindha, how did you finish a whole application in one day? I wish I could be more like you! I think I’m working on mine so much that they’re starting to get worse and worse. D:

The Lawrenceville essay…ugh, I don’t want to think about it! :(

L’ville was a “design your own question” not that bad surely?
