It all depends on the subject for me. For math or chemistry, I just redo most of the problems we’ve worked on during the unit and focus on my areas of weakness and review concepts. For a class like English, History, and sometimes Chemistry, pounding the material into my head works out pretty well. Rewriting notes just doesn’t work for me, so I just note down all major concepts and material that I should review 10 minutes before the test so it’s fresh.
Studying over a long period of time helps me retain more information than cramming the night before. I read over my notes and try to find unique ways to remember the things I need to know… I remember back in my sophomore year, I remembered the charges of cations and anions by think of cats as good (+) and onions as bad (-). This might sound silly, but do whatever you need to do to improve your memorization of important information.
