most gay students?

Yale is likely well out of reach for the OP given his grades and test scores.

One in four is a bit high, incidentally. Polls at Yale have indicated that the percentage wavers between 8% and 12% (slightly higher for males), which is roughly double the 5% for the general American populace and normal for a typical college.

I recommend you check out campusclimateindex.org, developed by Campus Pride (LGBT nonprofit org). Here are some schools that did well on their LGBT-friendly index:

Bucknell, UC (Berkeley, UCLA, Riverside, San Diego), Cornell, Eastern Mich U, Emory, Hampshire, Hofstra, U Chicago, U Illinois Urbana, Ithaca, U Maryland College Park, U Mass Amherst, MIT, U Mich Ann Arbor, U Minn Duluth, U Missouri KC, Northern Illinois U, Ohio U Athens, U Oregon, Oregon State, U Penn, Penn State U Park, Princeton, U Puget Sound, Roosevelt U, Sarah Lawrence, Syracuse, U Vermont, U Wisconsin Madison, Whitman.

Steven Antonoff’s excellent book, The College Finder, lists these schools: Bard, Brown, Bryn Mawr, UC-Berkeley, Columbia, Goucher, Grinnell, Hampshire, Harvard, Kenyon, U Mich Ann Arbor, Mt. Holyoke, NYU, Oberlin, Pitzer, Sarah Lawrence, Smith, Vassar, Wesleyan.

Hope this is helpful.

How about Oberlin? It seems to fit your criteria well: it’s small, it’s in Ohio, and it’s very gay-friendly.

WRT to the PR list as an answer to the OP’s question : I spent a bit of time at Wellesley when I was in college, and I am quite sure none of the men who spent time there were gay ;)

All schools have huge gay populations. whether these students are out or not is another story. And whether the school policies, school groups and local activities support the community is another factor. If you saw the recent study at Oxford university more than 50% of the population admitted to gay tendencies. I just read a recent article that said that 20% of men are gay, at least. So the world is becoming a conservative’s nightmare by these stats.

I go to American University where it feels like everyone’s gay. Your stats are a good match, too. :)

Oberlin is a reach for the OP.

It is my understanding that Fordham’s Lincoln Center campus has a high proportion of gay men and is very nice; a fun location.

Fordham College at Lincoln Center has a significant large LGBT community, largely because of their nationally ranked theatre and dance programs. Fordham College at Rose Hill has a LGBT community but I dont think its very large…its just a tolerant campus.

Its a misnomer and a slur to say people avoid Catholic Colleges because they are intolerant. Nothing could be further from the truth. Catholic Colleges dont teach and preach dogma, they teach liberal arts and nobody on the faculty will ask you or care if you are LGBT. If you write on those issues, it wont hurt you. They have strict non discrimination policies.

Its really only an issue for housing sometimes. Make sure you notify student housing in advance so they can find someone who is very tolerant or also in that community to be your roommate.

The OP’s numbers may be below Oberlin’s averages, but Oberlin may be more forgiving when it comes to lower GPAs and SAT scores due to its smaller applicant pool - its admissions approach as an LAC gives a lot of weight to personal essays, for example. I would say go for it if you like.
