I know that Common App only allows you to place five awards on the application.
Here is a list of my achievements.

2009 Junior Econ Challenge 1st Place Individuals Twin Cities
2010 National Spanish Exam Silver Medal
2010 National Honors Society
2011 National AP Scholar
2011 National Merit Commended (Likely)
2011 National Advanced Econ Challenge 2nd Place
2011 State Advanced Econ Challenge Individuals 3rd Place
2011 Twin Cities Advanced Econ Challenge Individuals 2nd Place

I am applying to colleges this fall and I am wondering what 5 awards would be the most beneficial to me to place on the Common Application.
I am obviously interested in economics, but I don't want that to be the ONLY awards on my application because I am applying to HYPSM and other top caliber schools.
Please help me!

I think National Honors Society and National AP Scholar can both be left out if you’re short on space. If you list all of your AP scores, that speaks to the number of APs you’ve taken, and National Honor Society is a common activity that tons of people put on their college app. National Merit Commended also seems less important than the others, especially if you have high SAT/ACt scores. I think the rest of the awards showcase your specific academic interests and adds more to the picture of you as an interesting person. Consider getting advice from your guidance counselor on this.

If you don’t want to completely omit some awards from your app, you can also consider asking your guidance counselor to mention them in his/her recommendation, or drop a note about it in the additional information section. Most schools will have a section where it’ll ask you if there’s anything that you want to include that won’t fit elsewhere in the application.
