What would you say are the most important personal qualities colleges like Princeton look for in applicants?

I think that there aren't really ONE group of personal qualities that Princeton looks for specifically, but I would say one of the most important things is intellectual enthusiasm/passion. I would say that an applicant who is driven, creative, eloquent, involved, passionate, and resourceful would be a really strong applicant, but I also think that people have different ways of displaying the same characteristics. Therefore, you shouldn't worry too much about trying to seem like you possess the above characteristics. Instead, it's more important to think objectively about what you are passionate and enthusiastic about, because most everyone is passionate about something.

Bottom line: I think that it's important to use your strengths to display important personal qualities rather than using the "molds" of important personal qualities to conform to your strenghts. I also think that displaying intellectual fervor is probably one of the most important though.

i sent them my rap album lol

down to earth

intellectual curiosity

ability in bed

wonder if sense of humor rates?

wow i cant imagine how that would come across in a recommendation/essay/interview.

Hahahahaha ability in bed. Hahahahaha.
You would have a college full of...
Hahahaha.

Stunning gorgeousness. That, my friends, is why I am a sho-in.

ambition, perhaps?

Charm. It works even on totally random people. That's how I accidentally got a Hamilton interview and I live in Bulgaria!!! :)

sheer awesomeness

i bet there'd be a whole lot of people wanting to "interview" the applicants and make sure their skills are up to par. bwahahah!

Hahaha. That wouldn't be unethical or anything.
But yeah, actually, there is a girl at our school who is REALLY dumb and she somehow got into Yale a few years back (I'm pretty sure her great-great-great-great grandfather was Abraham Lincoln and she was the secret lovechild of JFK and her other great-great-great-great grandfather founded Yale and she was distantly related to Columbus, Charles Darwin, and Jesus) and everybody was commenting about how she probably slept with her interviewer.
Which was fairly awful.
She thought it was funny though, so...whatever.

definitely intellectual curiosity/ love of learning (they look for this in recommendations, this is explicitly stated in the book "A is for Admission")

That book is really good. I found it really interesting, at least, even though some people do think that Michele Hernandez is a little sensational and overly-dramatic. I found it to be just be very...real.

Love of learning, though, for sure.

yea i wish i read that book freshman year... Too bad I read it after filling out my application

I read it before I filled out my application but I think that sometimes books like that make kids feel like they need to be more calculated. I also read another one of her books...I don't remember what it was called, but it had all of these suggestions and "tricks" you can use on your application to make yourself sound better and I just ignored most of that because I felt I wouldn't be "real" enough.
