Most "intellectual" schools

So I guess the other Ivie’s aren’t considering as “intellectual”, eh?

How about Columbia University? I know people from my high school who’ve gone to Columbia, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Grinnell, Wesleyan, Carleton, and Oberlin. I find the ones who went to the Ivy Leagues far more intellectual than those who attended Grinnell, Wesleyan, Carleton, and Oberlin.

UC Santa Cruz

all kinds of crazy discussions going on there.

“How about Columbia University? I know people from my high school who’ve gone to Columbia, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Grinnell, Wesleyan, Carleton, and Oberlin.
Columbia is a wretched den of pseudo-intellectual hipsters wearing tight pants… jk.

Every year, the 4-6 people from my alma mater who enroll at Columbia are either economically disadvantaged URMs, or strong students with high test scores.

The “learning for the sake of learning” types who are mavens of social and political issues always head off to Harvard, Yale, or Princeton.

The kids who head to Williams in droves are the theatre types, the gifted dramatists. Many are more privileged than their peers.

Chicago is the only diehard intellectual school I can think of.

chicago will win this hands down

I would say Harvard

“Intellectual” is such an obtuse word.

I would much rather see my child employed. ;)

sokkermom- LOL. Well said!

I know people at Harvard and Princeton who say that people party there as much as everywhere else, they are definitely far from being intellectual or nerdy AFAIK.

Well, just because you party doesn’t mean you’re not intellectual or nerdy. Almost everyone I know who goes to Harvard and Princeton are either intellectuals or legacies. Then again, I know only about 6 people from my school who went/go there.
