Most Meaningful Activity Survey

music (flute)

Hey guys, how long did you write about it? I realized the common app doesn't give much space to this answer, but you can always have an addition page. So did you guys write a 100ish or 300ish essay?

i wrote 500. that's usually the common length. not too long and not too short.

500? Ok, everybody else's essay is about 500 words, too?

I wrote one 500 but I don't think you are supposed to

Mine's 250....I figured since 500 is the length of the typical full essay, and this is only a short answer, 250 would be the right length....

500? Are you guys crazy? It's a short answer...If you have to attach an extra sheet to briefly explain how an activity is important to you, then you should really re-examine what you've written and take out all the fluff....thats just my opinion...

school newspaper/ journalism in general

and wait, about the length, the common app seems to have said 150 words...

honestly, 250 sounds reasonable to me for a short answer. Actually I'm very passionate about my most meaninful EC so it doesn't matter if I gotta write it real long. I'm just not sure a 500-word essay is what the adcoms are looking for here.

The common app webpage only allows you to have 150 words. My question is do they look at something so short as a writing sample, or just as an informative paragraph?

i had 146..i didnt wanna go overboard with this one cuz my essay is 850 words..or more i think..

probably more for informative purposes, but it might be nice to show that you can still write well in so few words.

oh i think some of us are mistaken. you meant the one on the common app? that i wrote 4 lines. i wrote a 500 one as the additional essay.

wait the common app has ONE personal essay (250-500 wds), and then one short answer question about most meaningful activity (150-250 wds). Are we allowed any more than that?

any more words than that? probably a couple more wouldn't be so obvious, but if it's significantly more, then the college admissions officers would feel peeved that instructions weren't followed.

actually, i just checked the common app again.

this is exactly what they say:

In the space provided below, please describe which of these activities (extracurricular and personal activities or work experience) has had the most meaning for you and why (150 words or fewer).

so no more than 150 words.

Football and <150 word for me
