I got bored with all the concerns (both here and on facebook) about whether dorms, specially Hume, have good party scenes, are good for socializing, etc... so as a sort of "take that" to those kind of questions, I thought it would be fun ask what are the most anti-social, nerdy dorms on campus. Any candidates? Bonus points for having kids who only leave their rooms to go to class!

I don’t think you can name a dorm nerdy, however, I would consider springs, keys, and lakeside to be anti-social compared to the traditional dorms. The Murphree area can also be less social because of the design of the sections and generally upperclassmen live there.

Oh, yes you can! Hume, no doubt about it. After living there for the whole year, trapped inside that ridiculously strange compound, I can truly say there is no other more nerdy, anti-social dorm on campus than Hume. About 90% of the kids here play video games non-stop, rarely party at all, and are genuinely strange. The other 10% realize immediately they have made a horrible mistake in choosing dorms. Many kids, such as my suitemates, rarely left there room unless it was to eat or go to class. This is not to say there aren’t any cool people in Hume…I did actually meet some cool people here, one is actually in my fraternity pledge class, but as I said above, they too aren’t a fan of living there.

The facilities are quite nice, however. But not that nice.

East Hall!!! the engineering dorm. it makes Hume look like the place to be on a Friday night…but it really just depends on your floor. I lived in Rawlings and my floor was pretty anti-social…unless you wanted to take part in a floor bible study (with free chocolate!) on Tuesday nights. lol. the 2 most fun/social floors that I’ve visisted (because I have friends on those floors) were in Jennings and Hume. I know their neighbors better than I know my own room-mate.
