Most overrated/underrated colleges in the nation

early, who the hell thinks GT isn’t as good as UGA besides a UGA matriculator/student/alum? and most would agree Emory is better than both.

GT sux btw lol. >_>

It really depends on the school. Some school which are in the top 30 are way underrated.

To rsx: GA Tech is better when it comes to academics. UGA is not a bad school by any means, but GA Tech is ranked higher and is overall better. If you ask any teacher/counselor they will tell you GA Tech is better overall. But it also depends on what you want to major in. I want to be a print journalist and I would rather go to UGA than GA Tech for that. GA Tech doesn’t even offer that major. GA Tech is good for any science or math major. Emory is overall better than both schools. Here are the top three schools in GA:

Emory

GA Tech

UGA

PS- I am def. not a UGA fan nor GA Tech fan. I don’t like Georgia at all and don’t like the lifestyle here. I could see myself at NYU, USC or Northwestern, but not UGA, GA Tech and Emory.

Overrated I’d say UCLA, Cal Tech, MIT.

Really? Let’s add whatever school you go to to the overrated list.

I think that many of the top LAC’s that no one really hears about (relative to Ivies/top research institutions) are quite underrated:

Bowdoin
Middlebury
Pomona
CMC
Oberlin
Kenyon
Colgate
Hamilton
etc

Kenyon is a really good school which I agree with. AWD it’s my opinion, get over it.

I see that went over your head. The expression is “my two cents.” As in the currency.

Mount Holyoke is way underrated.

LOL. I always do that, I know the saying but I also write it wrong. I thought you were trying to be rude, but I ended up being rude. I’m sorry, lol.

No worries. Sarcastic ribbing doesn’t translate to the internet well.

Yep, lol…

i think that ucsb is overrated …and ucsd is underrated

I don’t see your logic. If everyone applies to a certain school, wouldn’t it be well-regarded?

If you want to talk locally, “half of my graduating class” applied to UC Berkeley, UCLA, and USC. But I would consider those schools either appropriately ranked or underrated. Regardless, who applies where isn’t really an indicator of how a school should be rated.

And as far as BU vs. BC, by virtue BU is going to get more applications than BC. It’s a larger school and accommodates more students. And you’re talking about nondenominational versus Catholic.

Overrated: Brown, WUST, Emory, Notre Dame, Scripps

Underrated: UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UPenn, JHU, Rice, Northwestern, Tulane, UT-Austin, Michigan, W&M and Georgia Tech

BC is pretty overrated

i agree with this.

Are you from Seattle? I’m fairly sure my AP Lit teacher in high school also went to Whitman and he is also a brilliant man.

Underrated-Davidson, Holy Cross, Rice, William & Mary.

Overrated:
Tulane!!! (most overrated imo)
U Penn
Vanderbilt

Underrated: Skidmark College
