I've read a lot of posts where people have said "don't worry about your writing/cr, most people do better on the math anyway". Or when people list their stats, many times I'll see a 790 Math for example along with a 670 CR and a 700 Writing, or something. The point is, why do I usually see a math score higher than the CR/Writing scores ? For some english may not be their first language, for others, they're simply better at math than at english, but these points aside, do you guys really believe that the math section on the SAT is easier than the other two sections ?

I don't believe that the math is easier, however I would say that it is by far the most objective section on the test. On the math only one answer can ever be right. However, on the CR/W sections multiple answers could seem to be the right one.

I have also noticed the typical trend being Math highest, W middle, CR lowest. I believe this follows a pattern of the objectivity of the questions asked. Writing questions always have one and only one correct answer, however many students do not speak or write in proper grammar and some of the gramatical idioms trip up students.

i guess i'm the exception to the rule i had my highest score on reading, middle score on math, lowest on writing. (730 CR, 650 M, 620 W)

Hopefully I can pull all my scores to over 700 when I retake.

Nope. I got 750R and only 690M although ACT I got 35 on both, so I think it really depends on the particular questions and particular test since I'm a strong math person but just did fair on SAT math.

Most people in my school tend to do the best in Writing actually. Math would take second place & Critical Reading would be last. I believe it matters by if you are good at math or not... I know of people who only got in the 500's in Math but have 700's in the other two sections. Not surprisingly, these people also are in Honors English & History and get straight A's in those classes & have their GPA spoiled by Math/Science.

I'd say that the whole test can be made easy with a little studying... :p. But Writing the most so, and Critical Reading the least so.

I did the best in writing...a lot of good that's gunna to me at these schools that insist they aren't looking at it yet. sigh =P

I've had the most trouble with CR despite the fact that I'm a fairly fast reader, usually comprehend what I read I think, but for whatever reason I, and many people, still struggle with it.

I did best in CR, then Writing, then Math. Then again my calculator died on the very first question! :) I spent too much time trying to fix it.

My school was abysmal in reading and writing skills a few years back so they are focusing on these things now, maybe this is why my scores were the reverse of the trend.

well, usually the CR will be the worst score, or second to worst, because as all you have said, so many answers on a CR question seem to be right, yet only one is correct. I'm in AP Lang, and I've gotten about 10 practice former-AP Lang tests in my class, and I'd have to say that in my opinion, the questions on the CR section of the SAT resemble the AP Lang questions somewhat (in difficulty and complexity), which is totally unfair. But this is just my opinion, I may be wrong.

math is the easiest to prep on since all you need to do is practice problems. Writing and CR requires skills that takes longer to acquire.

my math is definitely my worst...

TVA, I'll trade you the left side of my brain for your right side. Or is it the other way around. I don't know. I'm supposed to be good at math and suck at english.

Heh, not true for me...

Definitely true for me, 800 M, 600 V and W, but I always knew that math was my stronger skill, though I'm convinced that were I to do the writing section I could hit a 650.

well it makes sense ffor me: 800M 800W 680CR

yea i like questions that only have 1 answers better

math i usually get 800, writing around 750, but CR only 550

I would bet they are not statistically significant be surely someone can look at percentiles.

I like math but I always do better on the CR/W sections. Last time I received a 740 CR, 740 W, and a 670 M. It's funny because I DID think the math sections were strangely easy that time but I guess I was just making careless mistakes.

average math scores are about 20 pts higher i believe

i have an 80pt difference math and cr

Not really. Math may be easier but CR and Writing have better curves.

Yeah that's true b/c don't you have to hit every answer on math, but can get away with getting around 2 or 3 wrong and still hit the 800 on CR.
