Most popular calculator?

What is the most popular calculator for math majors, applied math majors, and engineering majors? I think I saw a post like this before, but sorry I can't find it.

Do profs allow calculator in class or on the test?

(Yeah, I am getting a new calc and don't know whether i should get ti 89. I am a high school senior, so i might as well get a calculator that I will use later.)

Of couse, the last resort is a laptop with Mathematica 5.2 :)

Some classes allow calculators and others don't. Some classes (I am particularly thinking of 5.111/2) only allow a simple scientific calculator, but others allow you to use whatever you want to use. (I believe most upper-level classes allow you to use any calculator.)

My course 16 (aero/astro) boyfriend's advice for engineering classes is to get a TI-89 and learn to use it -- even if you can't use it on certain tests, you can certainly use it to your benefit on the homework.

Hey, I heard buying a Pocket PC and downloading a math software or ti89 emulator is mroe practical...anyone on this comment?
