most popular majors at uf

does anyone know if the web site lists what the most popular majors are at UF?

I dont have a website but here is what I think from experience.

Popular b/c easy: psychology (esp.), human nutrition, business, health sciences

Popular buts hard: hard sciences and engineering

Majors UF supports more because it brings money in: engineering, hard sciences (biochemistry, chemistry, physics, biology(not so much), molecular biology/biochem)

Journalism is also popular but limited in the number they can accept.

I would not come to UF if english, geology, and history you will get a degree but there are other places that have better programs. They just don't have the bankable factor.

Yea especially since the Liberal Arts department is getting downgraded by UF, it probably is not a great idea to major in those programs. However, most people in those majors (english, history, etc.) use them to get into law school. So it actually is not a bad idea to major in those programs so that you can have a high gpa when applying to law school. But if you sincerely want to learn those subjects for future study, then, as ASMAJ suggested, go elsewhere.

EDIT: And I second ASMAJ's list.

Know anything about the graphic design major?

I dislike the arrogance of these science majors and how the look down at us biz students and I just laugh when so many of these students come in and take management or marketing and get a c. My friend complained to me how about how hard marketing was and he is a “hard Science” major he ended up getting a c in it when breezed right on past it. Have another friend who is some engineering major and he just got d on the first management test. Another class I got an easy a. (note my friend in the marketing class I know for a fact studies more than I ever will so it wasn’t for lack study.

I look more at the schedule for the difficult of a major, than just a class. Business classes tend to (mostly) to be less time consuming than science or engineering classes.

Taking your example: That business major was probably taking economics, management, some gordon rule class, and whatever.

The engineering major could of being taking management but also calc 3, gen chem 2, and gordon rule.........all more time consuming than the business which probably had more time to studying for their management test.

As for me a science major, engineering minor....I took economics, but at the same time I took orgo 1, bio 2, stats, and economics.

Graphic design major is OK here, but there are better programs. You will still learn what you need.

i look at your schedule and i see one hard class but that is just me
