Most prestigious (or respectable) college majors?

Q: Which college majors make you have higher regard for someone?

None of them. If I meet a MIT aeronautical engineering major, for example, but he's a spineless prick who hates everyone and, in general, has a bad personality I'm still not going to be impressed by him.

Intelligence, while important, isn't all that makes a person good. That fact seems to be SORELY overlooked on this website. I would have higher regard for a social worker in Africa who works with orphaned children than I would for the a-hole MIT AE major, hands down.

If you don't already know that there's more to life than what you major in/where you go to college, you may wanna rethink.

(Just my two cents)

Wasn't Socrates a teacher?

I hate that word. Prestigious. So hollow...

It's really sad how people care too much of how people and society views them as.

i'm so comforted to hear all of your responses to this thread ! there is hope !

No. Read the Apology. Socrates did not consider himself a teacher because he didn't get paid, and he claimed not to recruit followers.

Socrates taught, but didn't get paid like the Sophists were.

Paid or not, if you are teaching others, you are a teacher.
