What are the most prestigious summer programs for someone looking to get into pre-med in college? I know JHU has a program but that doesn't seem super competitive. What's the RSI/TASP equivalent for the medical field (research, doctors, w/e)? Thanks!

What exactly do you mean by ‘pre-med’ summer programs? There are some programs (eg Brown Pre-College) that involve medicine and shadowing activities, but such activities can be accomplished at home in your local medical clinic, hospital, or physician’s office without the exorbitant fees of most summer programs.

As far as research programs go, RSI is probably the best known. There are certainly other great regional, state, and national science research programs. I went to City of Hope last year, and the research there was awesome (might get published! :D) and applied to several other programs, including SIMR, Clark Scholars, HSHSP, and Jackson.

Since it doesn’t provide housing, where did you stay while you are doing City of Hope? @shadowyams

Look for a new program at the Medical School at Penn for 2013

aac:

do you have any more info on the Penn Med program?

I’d also like to know about the Penn Med program
