UCLA, UVa, University of Chicago, Carnegie Mellon, and University of Michigan?

If you could rank them, that would be great.
Also just to let you know, I am not letting prestige affect my college choice but I'm just curious of the five schools, how each ranks in prestige? Thanks a lot.

But if we’re discussing worldwide prestige, UCLA is easily #1. For example, in Iran (where many of my relatives live), UCLA has a very good reputation amongst the educated classes. While the Univ. of Chicago is arguably a better university, it doesn’t seem to be very well known abroad, except perhaps in Europe.

So interesting how opinions vary so much. I for one believe that UCLA has a very good reputation in the US no matter where one lives. If I said I went to U Chicago everyone would probably be thinking that I was going to a public college in chicago that is no better than ones state school. Just my thoughts.

The best indicator of “prestige” seems to be the cost of tuition. Simply rank the schools by their cost. Cost should reflect the “prestige” attributes.
