Can you guys name, in order, the most prestigous national competitions? - besides math/science competitions.

i think the olympics pretty much takes the cake on this one.

if you have an olympic gold medal, that's a pretty strong EC

psh no.

science bowl pwns the olympics.

***** no.

Anything beats science contests. :)

winning a grammy, oscar, emmy, golden globe will probably help too...

(maybe even a People's Choice Award, but I've come to understand that the PC awards are the entertainment world's equivalent to Who's Who)

I'm sure National Debate Comps count big for colleges.

I have a friend who's the number 1 extemper in the nation and got deferred from Yale, and the number 1 debater got deferred from Princeton.

So they're not quite what you'd think.

Ehh...Then math/science rules all in terms of competitions....

In things other than math/science, I suppose winning essay competitions counts big?

National Peace Essay? Maybe not,......

tough Q...

try nobel. write the next great american novel :)

DAVIDSON FELLOW...did you post in another forum, if so sorry for posting two answers to your two posts?
Do some essays like the JFK. Go to fastweb and sign up. You'll be bombarded with different contests...but all in all...science and math contests dominate the national scheme

Admission to Harvard.

The most prestigious national award is accepting yourself for who you are, feeling good about yourself, having confidence in yourself, having loyal friends, and not trying to overachieve just to please colleges.

I agree.

Now I can publicly hate science.
