Does anyone know which majors are the most popular? Also, if you don't mind sharing, what majors do you want to pursue?

Apparently, the most popular major in America is psychology closely followed by economics.

I just found this out a few days ago. If I knew this, I wouldn’t have put economics as my intended major… (1st choice:economics, 2nd choice - economics-statistics, 3rd choice 0 economics-mathematics)…

Columbia has a strong economics department. So I’m guessing A LOT of people applied for economics.

I applied for Chemistry.

I thought the most popular major in the College was economics; that’s certainly the stereotype that you hear going around. But in fact, the most popular major at Columbia College is actually poli/sci, followed closely by economics, history, and english.

I wish that Chem is the LEAST popular major lol.

most popular majors
economics
political science
history
english
biology
mathematics

and it really trails off from there.

my sense though of most popular requested (or intended) majors would be
biology
economics
chemistry
political science

big gap

hist
engl
biochem

and then really trails off from there

the second are guesses, the former is from surveys and usually is about that.

kind of irrelevant but wow i’m glad that neuroscience isn’t up there!
