If you were going to do a top 5 or top 10 list, what colleges would you have on there?

williams, amherst, haverford, swarthmore definitely - off the top of my head

Harvey Mudd also. I think Swarthmore tops the list.

someone told me that Reed was very rigorous

AWS, washington & lee, barnard, wellesley...hmmm...

Carleton belongs on the list as well!

Reed. St. Johns. Swarthmore.

grinnell...colgate!! it was a contender for being the 8th Ivy... wiggling my eyebrows

EDIT: DAmmit, or was it Colby?? I ALWAYS get those two mixed up.... One of them, anyway...

Colgate was the contender. But that means nothing for its academic reputation. As we all know, Ivy League was based on a football division. They needed an 8th team so each team could play. It was between Brown & Colgate & Brown was chosen for location.

I wouldn't say Colgate was on the top 10 list. But Middlebury, yes.

Is Reed really that rigorous? I feel like maybe it's very rigorous for its selectivity level...

Reed is EXTREMELY rigorous. Their students are well-known for not showering/eating/sleeping during finals week because they spend so much time in the library. The term papers are pretty intense, too.

Rutgers was offered admission to the Ivy League

'nuff said

Colgate is not top 5

reed definitely

Colgate is one of those schools that can be rigorous if you want it to be, but it seems like most students choose not to.

Of the students who say Reed, are any of them not-Reedies? I had a roommate over the summer who was from Reed and she said she hadn't thought Reed was all that rigorous. Although she was quite smart.

College of William and Mary, if considered a LAC.
