Most Significant Failure?

I'm having a lot of trouble with this question.
What type of answer are they looking for? I can't think of any really significant failures I've had.

What type of things would you guys write about?

Lol. If it were me, I would write about --wait, what college is this for?

Do a piece of self-ironic performance art. That is, let your college essay be your most significant failure.

Or to wrong about.

Lol. Say how your failures have taught you some great moral lesson, just make sure it isn’t cheesy.

hahahah yawn

Wow, you guys have been OH SO helpful.
Thanks a lot.

Pfft.

If you have to, make up a significant failure. The whole point of the prompt is to assess if you are adaptable and creative enough to take a hardship and use it to facilitate growth as a person.

Show that you’re human. Show that you matured as a result of something going wrong, even if the “failure” itself was relatively insignificant.

Talk about something you poured your heart and soul into (even if you actually didn’t) but came up short anyway. Maybe like a project/competition.

Um, okay. This is the best I can come up with right now?

One year, I practiced all summer to try out for our school musical. But I chickened out. I was so disappointed in myself, but ended up joining one of the crews instead. I ended up making amazing friends, and having a wonderful time.

Here are some approaches:

  1. The “little train that could” essay.
  2. The “I didn’t get what I want, but did something else, enjoyed it, and pursued it instead” essay. (this is your best bet)
  3. The “my failure to write” essay.
  4. The “my failure to say goodbye/save someone from death” essay.
  5. The “my failure to say ‘I love you’” essay.
  6. The “my failure to keep my bff” essay.
  7. The “my failure to accept myself/come out of my shell” essay.
    Just some ideas thrown out.

thanks vinnyli, that really helped.
