what art career is the most successful.
i think maybe graphic design but im not sure..
what do you think??

What do you define as success?

which ever one makes the person happy.

Graphic design tends to have a greater employment percentage. But it can be stressful insofar as the deadlines, and the bliss of designing toilet paper ads as opposed to doing ‘your art’.

Public school art teaching used to be a stable route but with the emphasis on teaching to NCLB tests and state and local budget cuts these jobs could be harder to get especially the FT positions.

University or college teaching, very competitive. In general that is terminal degree territory (MFA,PhD) and increasingly the costs of these degrees are imbalanced regarding the potential income. Also due to economic constraints many who do have these credentials are adjuncts.

Gallery work, arts centers and the like. If one is in a larger city a workable route. But since many of these places are state funded they are caught in the same budget crunches as everyone else.

Studio artist. Most will have another job which supports being a studio artist. If you can get the recognition after several years and start making the money-put it into other stable investments and back into art production. Excepting for the high level people success as a studio artist can be a come and go type of a situation.
