If you guys are familiar with the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator), what do you think the most common MBTI type(s) are at Carleton?

This is actually a seriously interesting question that I’ve never seen anyone ask, so kudos for originality. I’d really like to know the answer as well! For what it’s worth, I’m an ENTP.

I’m an INTJ. I know a fair amount about my own type, but I haven’t done enough research on the other types to guess about which ones are common at Carleton. I’d be willing to bet that there are more INTJs at Carleton than there are in the general population, though.

I’m an INFJ, and I’ve got to admit I sometimes feel a little out of place with all the thinking types :-/

My friends and I actually love talking about personality types - I’m INFJ too, as well as three of my friends. I’d be willing to bet it’s a common type at Carleton.

I think I’m an ENFJ. In general, I think you get a good mix of the two, although I’m sure there are slightly more INTJ at Carleton.

Can somebody tell me what does that have to do with Carleton? Are you saying that students of specific types tend to choose Carleton or that, the admissions office selection criteria coincidentally tend to pick certain types?
This is really interesting. Maybe this fact could be published by the various college sites and prospects could use this information to determine if the college is right for them. :)

I’m a social psychologist, and just wanted to throw out that while the education folks love to use the Myers-Briggs test, psychologists just cringe when it is used. The cringing is because the reliability for it is NOT very high. To many academic psychologists, you might as well ask what your “color” is (whatever that means). It’s fun to play with, but just be warned that it really doesn’t mean anything in terms of consistently what people are likely to be like.

I’m an INTJ. Despite the low reliability of the tests (purportedly- my results rarely vary, though I’ve gotten ISTJ and INFJ before) I’ve become pretty certain of this- I have spent about 4 years researching it on my own after all. In LACs, in particular, I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a higher proportion of intuitives.
