What is the most underrated university in your state?

In Texas, i would have to say its U of Houston; atleast thats what im getting from people i know.(/ things i have read on the net)

In Texas, i would have to say its U of Houston; atleast thats what im getting from people i know.(/ things i have read on the net)

In the state of Michigan, I would say that the most underrated would be Kalamazoo College, in the city of Kalamazoo. They are overshadowed by a certain school in Ann Arbor.

Hmm, UMBC I guess. It’s supposed to be a very solid school but I think a lot of people overlook it for UMCP.

New College of Florida.

Err… Out of the SUNYs I’d have to say UAlbany, which isn’t highly regarded at all but is really great for certain majors. Also maybe the smaller SUNYs in general (Brockport, Plattsburg, Cortland etc.).

Cougar High is not underrated, if anything, it is overrated. I would say either SMU or TCU.

@LonghornDan

I’ve even heard that UHLC is underrated, its in the 5th largest legal market; it should atleast be top 30 instead of 55. (the LC has a like a 90% job placement rate, i think UTs is around the same thing law wise)

SMU is not underrated at all in the state of Texas. A degree from SMU will get you good job.

Now for TCU i cant comment, but i will say this past year put them in the spotlight.

and get this apparently Cougar Highs business school gets all the money lol…

UCSB because people think it’s a party school with no notable academics.

none, as far as I’m concerned.

Honestly, in terms of universities, I don’t think we have any. I think that on a national scale, UConn is underrated because it has great teachers and a fantastic honors program. However, within the state of Connecticut, it isn’t underrated…everyone loves UConn.

In terms of all colleges, I think that Trinity College and Connecticut College are underrated. Both seem like good schools and great places to be.

My alma matar, WVU is pretty much known for partying, sports - and riots, burning couches.

It deserves a great deal of that reputation, but some of the academic programs get overshadowed because of it. They have some really great programs for Environmental Science, Forensics, Engineering and other programs related to mining and energy.

The one thing many people don’t know, is how well the school treats it’s students. They do alot to constantly update facilities, add technology and provide a very good quality of life for the student body. I’ve been to alot of campuses/schools and I haven’t seen many that can compete with WVU in that respect. New libraries, new rec center, updates sports facilities, free tickets to athletic events, a mono-rail system that takes students to class, new dorms, free student concerts, ect. They certainly go out of their way to make sure their students are happy and comfortable.

The state as a whole is ferociously devote to the university and the school it self holds alot of power within the state, perhaps more than any other school in their own state (Kentucky and Texas are probably up there).

It’s a very nice and safe school that gives a “big campus, small town” vibe. Just sometimes the redneck in us comes out and we get too wild.

I like this LilSwole guy.

SUNY Buffalo.
So underrated! Yet such high quality!

look at this guy’s expression rofl

Ok you need to stop now, it was funny the first time, but not anymore

lol LilSwole

In Michigan
-Obviously MSU because it is overshadowed by U of M.
-Kalamazoo is grossly underrated and has an amazing study abroad program and curriculum.
-Michigan Tech is a highly underrated engineering/science school. It is often overlooked because of its remote location.

i was wonderin’ when Swole would return

Cooper Union: it only has 3 programs (Architecture, Art and Engineering), but it is ranked very highly in these fields (the Arch program is #1 in the country). Cooper Union also has no tuition and only accepts about 60-70 students per year.

I attend NYU, which is literally a 2 min walk from Cooper Union, and some of the students here haven’t even heard of them! Last year Cooper built a new building, and many local residents assumed it was another NYU building because people always forget about Cooper.

Can there be any underrated LA universities? LSU is overrated, Tulane I guess is underrated…but the rest are just genuinely bad schools.
