Most useful minor in addition to a biochem major?

Hi!

So, I am a high school senior who wants to either double major or minor but doesn’t know what they want to do in the future.

I do have a unspecific, general idea of what I want to do though, which is:
-Go to med school and become a neurologist since I love studying how the brain works
-Work in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry

So honestly my main question is what is generally a pretty useful major for someone majoring in STEM? Right now I am thinking both neuroscience and computer science would be good choices. Some people are saying business is very useful but I honestly have no idea.

If anyone has suggestions for useful or just interesting majors please let me know!!
Thanks!

Computer science and statistics can be generally useful either as a supporting subject for biochemistry or medicine, or on its own.

Business may help if you become a physician in private practice, but the general trend appears to be that physicians are moving to become part of larger medical groups.

For placing medicine in a cultural context, consider anthropology.

Neuroscience will have a lot of overlap with biochemistry. I would choose a minor that doesn’t overlap, at least so much. CS and statistics are great suggestions. I would also suggest psychology or cognitive science.

Kind of depends on what minors are actually offered at your school. But in today’s world, the more quantitative background you get the better. Subjects like bioinformatics, and epidemiology would be good supplements to biochem. Basically anything related to biostats.

@bouders I do agree that there is overlap… wouldn’t that be a good thing though?? I assume that neuro would have the same gen ed classes with focus on classes such as psychology and behavior, pharmacology and stuff. I do like CS a lot though.
