Mount Holyoke Early Decision Girls!

Merry ! Christmas !! To !!! All !!!!

Merry Christmas is right! And Happy Hannukah and a wonderful New Year's! Getting accepted to MHC was truly the greatest present I could have ever envisioned.

wut's Hannukah i dun't kno much of american culture!

Hanukkah is actually a Jewish holiday (which begins this evening actually) that lasts for eight days which commemorates the re-claiming of a temple in Jerusalem after the Syrian "government" under the rule of Antiochus basically outlawed Judaism and instituted a campaign of oppression. Following recapturing the temple, the oil used for lighting the traditional Menorah was "profaned" and there wasn't enough...but it miraculously lasted for eight days keeping the flames of the candles alive during the celebration. That's a pretty primitive history lesson, certainly not comprehensive, but that's the idea of it. Hanukkah is actually not the most important of Jewish holidays, but its prominence has been gained through being around the same time of year as Christmas. Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are more important I believe.

Yay! I just got an envelope from MHC with my USER ID and password! And it turns out they're missing my two short answers... confused Excuse me? Is this the "Why Mount Holyoke" essay and writing sample? Cause that's part of the Supplement, right?

Do you ED-ers know what they're askin' for?

Well congrats on applying and finally receiving your ISIS info! Alrighty, well, I received a letter stating those items had not yet been accounted for (among other things strangely)...but don't depair! Chances are, they just haven't entered them into their computers or something. Yes, your short answer on "Why MHC?" is part of the supplement, and correct me if I am wrong, but does that letter state your supplement has been received? So, they'll say they have your supplement but not your short answer, which doesn't make sense, I know, but in actuality, they have it. It's confusing. And there is not exactly a "second" short answer...all you have is your essay, your "Why MHC?" piece and that graded writing sample (you or your guidance counselor sends). Yeah, there really aren't two short answers. Don't worry, it is just a lot of items and documents are scattered right now, it will get worked out. However, I would definitely contact admissions by phone or email to check-in. Again, it's confusing, I was wigged out too, but it all works out in the end!

Actually, that was why I confused. ISIS online said it received my Supplement, but not the "two short essays", (whatever they may be). Meh?
I re-did the Supplement online because I discovered I didn't send my "Why Mt. Holyoke" essay along with the transcript, recs, written sample and printed rest of Common App Supplement. embarrassed Maybe that's why it's all wacky-a-doodle.
Shall wait a day or two before sending said email. I imagine they got a lot of online applications on the 15th, like mine. ;)

Yeah, there's the snail mail letter with your ISIS pin and I also had a letter with missing items...and then on your ISIS account you have the received/missing charts too. There can and will be a disparity between your ISIS account's charts and what they actually have somewhere in their office...you're right, it all takes time. I can't imagine how much work they must have, it's a tough job indeed to sort through everything. But again, don't worry, it's scary and embarassing but there are hundreds of people with pieces of their application that are separated or missing. And don't hesitate to contact admissions at any time, they are wonderful and understanding people and the last thing they want is for you to fret when you needn't, they'll help you. Not to mention the fact they are probably receiving a record number of applications this year!

Wooh. I know it scared me lookin' at various college websites and seeing it says "For the class of 2009 we received a record number of applications" and just being scared pantless, knowing there'll be MORE kids applying for class of 2010.

More kids, and more kids applying to more schools. scared

got in ED 2 quite a long time ago..like 20 days. NIce to meet you guys here...and hope to see u in person soon.

Hey!! I got in ED II too and will prolly get to visit MHC before that, hopefully! I am in a boarding school in New Jersey and really looking forward to seeing you all up there in MA. It's going to be awesome, for sure. Sweta! I am also from Nepal and am going home for the summer. Maybe we can meet up or something. It's going to be so much fun. Congrats to all my fellow Mohos-2010! Go mohos!!

hey gals! my friends who who ed2 in trinity are getting their i-20 sometime in march. do you have any idea of when will we get our enrollment packet (forgetting the i-20 thing for now) ?

I don't have any idea and I am also waiting for post from MHC but nothing till now. Well in the acceptance letter, it is written that we will get details about matriculation in the Spring mail, may be in April we will hear from them when the regular applicants get acceptance.
