Has anyone ever gotten in off the waiting list? :-(

Congrats to all who got in!

Looks like we're in the same boat, chrism. :) I have heard of somebody getting off the waitlist -- she posted in the womenscolleges community on LiveJournal that, after interviewing and sending additional recs + grades, they offered her spring admission. There may be hope yet!

I'm disappointed, as MHC was by far my first choice, but I'll see what happens with the two others I'm waiting on... which isn't looking too good, considering that both are regarded as far more selective, haha. I'm in at my safeties, though. I'll see how April goes before deciding on the waitlist.

i got in too!! im so excited.

Any more internationals who didn't receive emails yet?

I'm waitlisted! I'm actually really excited as I was expecting a rejection.

resdexton, i am in the same boat as you and those were my exact sentiments :) staying on waitlist?

So, I was browsing this thread.
And I guess I'm still confused about MHC's financial aid.

Do they or do they not (or are they supposed to) meet 100% of your need for financial aid?

I was looking at the awards page (I got accepted), and when looking at the numbers for the total cost, the "Parental Contribution" (this is the amount FAFSA says they can pay), and the award they're actually giving me....

Well, the awards + the Parental Contribution does not equal the total cost.
So, obviously the financial side of this is not working out for me.
:(

congrats to everyone!!

"Does Mount Holyoke "gap"?
Mount Holyoke College currently meets 100 percent of a family's demonstrated eligibility for financial aid and does not gap."

That is from their website.

So, shouldn't they cover ALL of my need?

Because they really don't seem to...

Am I misinterpreting this?

Hey natbam! Yeah, I'm staying on the list! How about you? I emailed the admissions office to see what exactly it meant (I'm int'l). The girl sent back a really sweet reply, however, I actually feel much less hopeful after reading it.

It sounds like the waitlist is huge. She said 90% of the applications they received were eligible for admission. I read somewhere that most colleges (although it has been denied by some) just put some people on the list as a 'courtesy', meaning they really liked your application, but that's as far as your gonna get. The email was lovely...but i think it was just a courtesy one for me, unfortunately.

I'll stay on the waitlist anyways. As they say over here: "if the Lord rose on the third day, anything could happen."

Mt. Holyoke does NOT meet full need, as determined by FAFSA. My tuition is 10x more than the FAFSA says I can pay.

Ack, that's not good. D: I think I'm going to stay on it, anyway. Can't hurt, right?

Seems that's four of us here on the waitlist so far, haha. Maybe we should make our own thread. :p

Yeah, I think being on the waitlist = rejection for all practical purposes.

I am also admitted.....international
But I got the admission from our national university (Top 3), and I don't know where to go now>
Anyone give me a advice?

hi, i'd really appreciate it if you guys would tell me how you checked your decision...my friend's trying to log into ISIS and they are saying it's closed...and she didn't get any email about decisions either...thanks in advance and congrats! :D

Hope your friend get better news than us:
MoHo wants 36K/yr and Dad has been disabled since '99 w/no income.
We are appealing FA decision. We don't blame school tho. It's the way FAFSA is structured. Screwed again by Uncle Sam. Once again proving no good deed goes unpunished! Good luck

@Elvenlord

Where are you from?

China.......I got admitted also to Fudan University, no 3 in China ( anyone know that?)....

elvenlord, the selfish part of me immediately says that you should take up your place in fudan so i can perhaps get a better shot (like 0.0000001%) of getting in :P

but seriously, i think its all about the fit. like, are you okay with being away from home for long period of time? can you deal with a completely new and different environment, and more importantly, can you cope and adapt? are you willing to have to put up with the inconvenience of being away from home, your family, friends and loved ones? do you see yourself fitting in at a women's college? if your answers were yes, you definitely should go for mount holyoke, imo. but that's just me. congrats btw! my PRC friends rave about fudan and i know how hard it is to get in. you are one lucky (and obviously smart) girl!
