Mount Holyoke VS Smith for Physics & History

My daughter is down to choosing between Mount Holyoke and Smith. (This is agonizing for her as she is much more about the process of things than making final decisions.) She thinks she wants to major in Physics, double majoring or minoring in History/Int'l Studies or similar. Any thoughts regarding the strength of the physics department of each? May 1st is coming very quickly…

Thanks!

Can’t miss with either school. D has a history degree from MHC, got into a master’s program at a nationally known university WITH AN ACTUAL SCHOLARSHIP!!! On the physics side, I do know Mt Holyoke sends more students to science graduate programs proportionately than any other school in the country.

I am sure she can do well at either school. Clearly she is interested in a liberal arts environment instead of a research university environment for her undergraduate degree. Physics curricula are pretty much the same in all universities and getting into a strong graduate program (if that is her eventual goal) will depend mostly on her research experience which can certainly be obtained by a combination of on-campus research and summer research programs such as the REUs.
