Come onnnnnn

Mt. St. Marys is catholic, very much so. And interesting place tho.

Thanks! What do you mean by interesting?

MSM plays lower level, DI basketball, nice arena. Rt 11 runs by and even through the campus, which is at the foot of a mountain. There is a very large statue (lighted @ night) on the mountainside …which is the flight path for the presidential helo going into Camp David. In fact, one time in years past, college officials decided to turn off the lights @ nite, as a cost saver. The gov came to them and apparently gave 'em some $$ to light it back up (Jesus) …as it was a key signal helping pilots find the Camp, up over the hill from the college. It is a nice, neat little campus, just a handful of miles S. of the Gettysburg battlefields, very beautiful country, not close to much. My sense is that it has remained very faithful to its Catholic roots. I’ve known a few students who went there, one a transfer from a prestigious state institution, and liked it very well.

It’s Route 15 that runs through the campus, not Route 11. We live very close to the place, but since we’re Protestant, I confess to not knowing much about the atmosphere there from a Catholic perspective. I do know several students from our local Catholic high school go there for college.

It is pretty… and it is very close to Camp David and Gettysburg. There’s nice hiking around, but not so much in any night life aside from star gazing (which those of us who live around here treasure).

Thanks so much guys!

From the highway (thanks for the correction … I’ve a mental block about many things, including 11 vs. 15), Emmittsburg is like Brigadoon … only really shows up every 100 years. A post office, not much more. But lots of honky tonk and fast food places just up the road in Gburg. Can’t beat the place if you’re an outdoor loving Eagle Scout majoring in history and desiring to do your senior thesis on what really happened at Little Roundtop, and what Lincoln had to say about the tragic affair.

Awesome! This sounds perfect for my friend!
