Mountains or South Dakota?

What school would you choose if you were me?

Western State
It is 3 hours away from my house
My best friend is going there
2,000 students
Next to Crested Butte, an AWESOME ski resprt
also known as "Wasted State"
The average temperature is NEGATIVE 20, but there is no wind chill

South Dakota State
It is about 17 hours away from my home
I want to be a nurse, and it has a good nursing school with a short waiting list
10,000 students
It's in the midwest, and I am not from there so I don't know how the people could be different
I've never lived farther than 30 minutes from the mountains and don't know how I'd respond to it
It's warmer than WSC

Both seem like amazing schools with good academics and a fun location. I have family in Iowa about 3 hours away from SDSU, but I don't know them really. I am the youngest and the first one going to a 4 year college. I have been to South Dakota and saw the campus and I am going to see Western in a few weeks and I'm thinking I'll know when I get there wether it's the right college for me, I just want to see what you all think...?

Don't fool yourself into thinking that South Dakota is going to be any warmer than Colorado. They have -20 winters too.

Anyway, I'd choose Western State. It has what you like (skiing), it's closer to home (but not too close), and visiting Denver or Colorado Springs would be heaps more exciting than visiting Sioux Falls or Fargo.
