So I got an email today asking if I wanted to volunteer to be a move in assistant. I get to move in on the 16th instead of the 21st (which I thought was a pretty great idea) and just basically work around helping out for Welcome Week. It seems like a great idea...moving in early, meeting new people, and I even get a free t shirt :p Does anyone have any experience on it? My friend did it for the past 2 years and she totally recommended it to me.

Same question here. Anyone??? Need to give an answer by 5:00 today. Are you busy the whole time? Do you have free time? Is it really nerdy?

it is mainly 2nd and 3rd years thats doing move in assistants because they already know their way around things and able to help first years move in easily and answer questions, so i don't think first years will help much as an MIA

What do MIAs eat?

But first years certianly can be MIAs and often are.

You really aren't busy at all as an MIA. You'll be working an average of 4-6 hours a day. After movein weekend , you're done and can enjoy welcome week.

MIAs eat in dining halls same as ORL staff

How does eating in the dining hall work? Mean plans start on Friday, so I assume you will get a voucher for each meal, right?

Yeah. You get free meals at the dining hall(s).

Well, not exactly free, since you are "working" as a MIA.

no, your bcard will swipe you once per period

cool im excited
i move back sept 16 as a dykstra MIA. what about the other buildings

haha silly you live/lived in dykstra?

i was selected to do sproul MIA but decided not to since MIAs will have to miss the Arizona game at rose bowl, didn't want to do that :)

i lived in dykstra last year. and am living in it again

D-luv !

It's hard to believe you're not an incoming student based on your post.

Fisco: Believe it, it's true!! My son will not give CC the time of day. He thinks it's silly. I, on the other hand, could not have made it thru the the last couple of years without it. It has helped me and him (he's starting to come around) immensely and I thank you all! My posts might sound like an incoming student because they truly are his questions. :)

so... tell him he should ask them ;)

we're nice, we won't bite lol.

yeah you need to notice you won't be able to help him every step of the way once he gets here, sometimes it is important that he knows how to seek out help and such

same here silly. Lived next to the RA last year, living in front of the RA this year, hahahaha.

Hey, past MIAs, tell me about how busy you guys were. Because I want to continue working during Week -1, and I wanted to know if this was feasible.
