Move-in date for freshmen

I'm an incoming freshman and I just received my housing information. My move-in date is not until September 2, which concerns me because so many other freshmen will be there before. Does the rest of my floor and/or residence hall (stetson east) move in at the same date? Is this a legitimate cause for concern?

Yes, they do. Different dorms move in on different days, so other dorms will be there before you but your floor won’t.

No, I don’t think so. You’ll be so distracted with moving, you won’t even notice anyway.

Besides it’s not “so many”. A lot of people move in after you.

I don’t get it. What difference does it make, since the rooms are preassigned?

Last year I moved in on September 4th, and I was in Stetson East as well. Don’t worry too much about it. You’ll get more than enough time to meet and socialize with everyone.

It’s logistics. You want to move in at the exact same time that 3000 other students are? With like, two parking lots on campus available for move-ins? And each student has two or more crazy parents following them around?

It’s bad enough when one whole dorm moves in at once. There are a limited number of bins, unless you feel like carrying the entire contents of your bedroom from a parking lot 10 minutes away, up a flight of stairs, and through the building to your room.
