When do people usually move in? I need to see if my vacations conflict with my stuff.

Well it's the week before the term actually begins. Somewhere near the end of September. You choose your move-in time.

Look for calendars on http://www.registrar.ucla.edu

it is called 0 week.

Can we get an exact date? I got vacations up to September 20th and I Don't wanna be late!

i am almost absolutely sure that move in is the weekend of the 21st,22nd, and 23rd. They give you a move in date and time within this weekend. so i don't no your time or date.

There's no such thing as moving in late so long as you move in before school starts, which is Sept 27. They give you a date which is the earliest time possible that you can move in, but after that weekend, you can move in anytime during that week in between that date and when school starts (well actually its anytime period after that move-in weekend so you can move in weeks into the actual school term if you feel so inclined). You'd miss some "move-in" events that are completely optional (and in my opinion pointless). I'm planning on moving in the day before my classes start this upcoming year.

In your case, I wouldn't reschedule my vacation around my move-in time since your time would be better spent on vacation than at a place that you'd be spending the next 4 years at (whatever friends you may have made during this one week time span would have occured anyways unless youre the type that keeps the door shut 24/7, and whatever time you need to get used to the surrounding and campus is really short- I know some programs like AAP try to advertise some of their summer programs by saying that you'll be used to everything and have an advantage over everyone else since you know where places are and whatnot, but that's just false advertisement)

When do we get our scheduled move in day? I never received any notifications so far.

near the end of august.

also, if any of you ladies are interested in panhellenic rush, you'd better be here 0 week.

A friend was telling me about how the first days or so, we can switch around roommates?

Oh damn that would ruin my plan.

Classes start 27th, and I want to be in LA with my family on 19th because it will be the weekend. So, that's my move in date.

I haven't got the notice from the school yet.
Is that gonna work?

oh it's sept 20th this time. that's better than 22nd, but still 19th would have have been perfect.

You can't declare your move in date per your own schedule. I'm not totally sure if the 19th is in bounds, but the weekend should be a fine date. You will be assigned a move in date online, so respond the email early and you will get your early date.

Wait a few more months for more information and exact dates of move in.

yeah, i found out it's on 20th, which isn't that bad but 19th would have been perfect.

According to the official website: "Undergraduate Contract Housing
Fall move-in for single undergraduate students living in On-Campus Housing and the University Apartments is scheduled for the weekend of September 20th, 2008. A move-in article page will be available after July 1st, please check back for complete details."

so 20th is the assigned date, I suppose.

it would be 19-21 (fri-sun). they assign you a move-in date in august, but it doesn't matter. move in whenever you want between the 19th and your first day of class.
