My move in date is Sunday 9/5 while others I know of are moving in on the 2nd 3rd etc. Do they determine this by dorm? One kid I know is moving in on 9/2 but he is in Smith. I am in Speare - so I was just wondering how they determine this. Also will the bookstore be open on 9/5? I was thinking of waiting until I got there and going to buy my books that day. Moving in on 9/2 and starting classes a week later sounds like a long time to there without going to class.

Yeah. I originally wanted to move in on the second, but later I found out that the move-in dates are decided by dorms.
I’m stetson east. I’m moving in on the same day as you.

And as for books, I suggest you go to websites such as affordabooks.com
or amazon, ebay etc.

You can get used books (new books are a total waste of money) or even rentals. Compare prices of the books online and the books at the bookstore. You’ll probably end up saving hundreds of dollars. Just sayin. Saved me 400.

Move in dates are by dorm, but if you want to move in earlier you can email housing and ask. (housing@neu.edu)

About the books, the bookstore will definitely be open. If you are going to wait until you get to school to buy them, you should wait until you go to all your classes and see if you are really going to need it, and then go and buy them. Otherwise, you can try to get them online for cheap somewhere. Some books are Northeastern custom textbooks though, so for those you have to go to the bookstore.

I’m assigned to Hemenway, and my move in date will be the third (Friday). So yeah, to echo the previous sentiments- decided by your residence hall.

To describe the cost of textbooks would require inappropriate language for this board. Something like 350 dollars just for Calculus 2 materials. ;-; Insult to injury was that I couldn’t find cheaper prices elsewhere.

I got my $160 calc book for $19 LOL NEW TOO

im in stetson west and i move in the 5th :)

are any of you transfer students or you are all freshmen?
