The official move in day is August 22. Do you have to move in that day? Are you allowed to move in on any day of the week before Aug 30?

Because I fear that there will be so many people that it would be way too crowded. But if I move in on a later day, would I miss any freshman events?

Think you can move in any day that week. Many/most do move in then because there are activities throughout the week. Called gig 'em week, there are lots of activities. [Gig 'Em Week Schedule of Events | Offices of the Dean of Student Life - Texas A&M](http://studentlife.tamu.edu/nsp/GEW_Schedule.html) The entire week is also sorority recruitment. (Not sure about fraternities) One benefit of the Sunday move-in is that temporary “loading zones” are established so one doesn’t have to haul stuff from the back 40. Also, non-permited vehicles are able to park in certain lots. But, of course, the down side is the chaos.
When can my student move in the Residence Halls?
Residence Halls open on Sunday, August 22, 2010, at 8 a.m. This is also Welcome Day where volunteers will
assist incoming students and parents in unloading and carrying possessions to the residence hall room. If
you wish to avoid lines and parking concerns you may want to consider not coming on opening day since the
majority of students do move in on first day of opening.
