We’re moving in August 31st, right? So, should I wait until UPenn sends more info, or should I book the tickets while their cheap? Also, does it matter during what time of the day we come?

Move-in is scheduled for August 31st. I'm starting to look into booking my plane tickets, but I'm still thinking about when I'm really going to arrive in Philly (I want to arrive a day or so early, just so the jetlag doesn't get to me too much). In addition, it's going to be extra busy at the airport if every one is flying in on the 31st. I don't think it matters what time of the day, yet I don't know because I have yet to move in, so just forget that. lol.

Airports are built to handle tens of thousands of passengers a day...I doubt the 5000 or so people flying in will cause any sort of difference (considering that a huge portion of the class is from Philly/PA, NYC and NJ, many will be driving in anyways).

For move in i highly suggest coming in at least the day before. I came to philly 2-3 days in advance and toured the city with my family which was a lot of fun. Move in can get hectic if you go later on in the day so my advice is to go in the morning and its easier to get parking close to your dorm and the move-in staff is less busy so you get someone to help you out right away with moving your things. Plus, a lot of non-mandatory but fun events happen in the afternoon of move in and that night you have hall and college house meetings so its nice to get settled before the night's activities

Hey I coordinate New Student Orientation (NSO)... Yes, you can move in early (Wednesday, Aug 30) but it will be a small fee (approx. $25). We'll have programs for students and parents on Thursday, Aug 31. To get a better idea of what I'm talking about -- visit last year's website and take a look at the schedule http://www.upenn.edu/nso/2005/events/index.html
