Move-In Day Orientation

Does anybody know anything about the orientation activities and stuff that goes on during move-in day and that weekend (aside from the football game)?

And do we recieve anything in the mail regarding move-in day?

There are A LOT of things to do on move-in weekend. Check resnet.umd.edu for the schedule--it should be up in a few weeks.

You will receive something in the mail regarding your move in date...pretty simple--if you're in a Living/Learning Program, you move in Thursday, if not, you move in Friday.

what if you're in a living/learning program but you won't be in the program's dorm? I want to participate in the scholars service day, but I don't know if they're gonna open up an entire dorm just so I can move in.

Don't worry, all the desks will be serviced, so you'll still be able to check in on that day.

Do they issue our ID Cards at Orientation?

yea, you will get your id cards at Orientation

And with regards to move in day, I knew it was the 29th but I wasn't sure if there was any specific procedures or things that we needed to be informed of before getting to campus.

My son is in the business school, but we can't move him in on Friday, August 29th, as my husband has to work. Can he move in on Thursday the 28th?
Thanks

I think there is also a welcome event for families the afternoon/evening after move-in. Anybody know?

There should be, but ResLife hasn't published the schedule yet for NRO. I'd keep checking the website or call their office at 301-314-2100 and ask when the schedule will be online/mailed.
