I'll have my parking decal before move-in day so I'm just planning to park where I can then take what I have in my car to the halls, but my parents are helping me move in with their car, so where do they park? I'm going to live in Mallory, if that makes any difference.
I'm planning to call housing about this but I was wondering whether anyone here has any first-hand experience with this.

Last year housing posted instructions on where to park each day of move-in, but I haven’t seen any yet. :/

But for Mallory you should be able to park in spots just north of Yulee area, close to the circular drive just outside of Mallory. Check out the campus map: [UF Campus Map](http://campusmap.ufl.edu/) …I think it’s easier if you see it :)

Red parking restrictions are lifted from the 9th till the first day of classes, so you can park in any red lot without a decal. If you go on parking.ufl.edu you can find the map and scout out the closest red lot to your dorm.

When I moved into hume, we parked in the bike lane (everybody was) in order to unload, then went and parked in a red lot. This was on the first day of movin that semester. It gets pretty crazy on that day so the police are usually pretty lenient with things like that.

If I have a bunch of stuff to get from the car to the room, and there isn’t a parking lot close to the residence hall, what do people do? I think there is a loading/unloading zone by the hall that about 3 cars can fit into, but with everyone trying to move in, that would be tough to use. Do people just drop stuff off on the side of the road and go park and come back?

yeah, thats what we did. unload the car, leave someone to watch the stuff, park, come back. since you’re not really parking, it doesn’t really matter where you do it.

Hi, my daughter will be moving into the Hume dorm this august. I believe that the keys are given out at 9:00am. Does it matter what time you show up? Is it perhaps worse to show up at 9:00 because everyone will probably be there at the same time, or do you recommend sleeping in Gainsville the night before and being very early at the dorm?
thanks,

Well, it depends. The only reason to show up early is so you can beat out your roommate and set the room up to your liking. However since the rooms in hume are almost perfectly symmetric, I don’t really see the advantage to this.

When I moved in the Hume I just went in the afternoon, there was no line, the traffic had died down so I could park right by the door to unload. I still think this is the best way.

+1 for there being no rush to get into hume.

Until what time can you check in the afternoon?
