So i heard on move-in day, cars drive in from the gate assigned for your dorm. I'm coming from Texas and I'm flying in mid day August 21st. After I arrive, what should I do? Should I get a taxi, other form of transportation, go to hotel, etc.? This is my first time flying in by myself so help would be appreciated. If I should go straight to my hotel, I'll make sure to make reservations now. It probably won't be a hotel that is very close but 10-20 minutes away. And since cars drive-in through their assigned gates on Move-in day, how do I go about doing that? Get a taxi to drive me in or something? Any help would be great! Thanks!

a lot of information is available on this thread, started earlier

Where else are you going to stay for the night of the 21st? Find some way to go from the airport to your hotel and then on the 22nd, to go from your hotel to USC.

Ok thanks menloparkmom and 4orce! 4orce, I’ll just be staying at hotel. Good suggestion, but that’s kinda what I need help with, finding a way to get to USC. That area is a bit foreign to me. Menloparkmom, that thread was useful but it would be more helpful for someone more local who has a car. I’m coming with no car or anything, so getting from place to place is confusing. What should I do right when I arrive in LA?

OP I sent you a pm. My recommendation is to reserve a Super Shuttle ride to your hotel. [SuperShuttle Los Angeles | LAX Airport Shuttle | LAX Shuttle Service | LAX Shuttle to Disney](http://www.supershuttle.com/Locations/LAXAirportShuttleLosangeles.aspx)

You could easily stay at a hotel with free shuttle service to & from the airport. You can check as to whether SuperShuttle or other shuttle service would take you from your hotel to the hotel. Likely the hotels walking distance of USC are already sold out for 8/21. Would call SuperShuttle and its competitor PrimeTime Shuttle to see if either will pick you up from your hotel to take you to USC or if you have to catch the free hotel shuttle back to the airport. It’s only a 15-30 minute shuttle ride from LAX to USC.
