Move-In Day

Should we rent a dolly for hauling heavier items (e.g. fridge or large trunk) into the dorm or do they have those available?

They have these oversize industrial sized laundry hampers on wheels that you can put all your stuff in, but you do have to take turns. So if you don’t want to wait, borrowing/taking a handcart or dolly is not a bad idea. Be aware that a few older dorms don’t have elevators so they will mainly help getting stuff from car to dorm. You can check on housing to see if your dorm has an elevator.

It depends. Where are you moving into?

For smaller dorms like Maxcy, moving in is a breeze and they have carts and stuff available and the wait isn’t that bad (if there is one). For places like Cola Hall and Bates, it’s a completely different story and you probably should.

Great move in advice scmom and AUGirl. I’m moving into Cola (I assume that is Columbia, right?) and will try to bring a dolly of some sort. Thanks again and I’m looking so forward to the end of next week!! But it’s kind of scary too!!
Hey, I just thought about it, I guess I should get shades of some sort for my dorm window too. Bed, bath, and beyond…here I come again :)

There may already be blinds at the window. Check the virtual tour page for Columbia Hall. Yes, locally Columbia is abbreviated as Cola.:)
